Yes, here you are. AGAIN! The same character who died when he was a human, and was then copied by the Greed even though they had never met him. Because the author thought he was a cool character. The Snake Greed got super healing so he could be shot and sliced for dramatic effect, only to always come back.

But now finally, we saw him die. Along with the other two boss characters: Stone Guy and Wasp Girl. Each of the three killed in a dramatic fashion after we found out their powers from a source of exposition, allowing the heroes to tailor their defenses to each. Stone Guy killed by whirling water inside his body, and so forth. A clever end for each, after a great battle, very satisfying.

But NO! Now they are alive AGAIN with no explanation.

I just watched the last season of Stranger Things and it's the same there. They find out the villain's backstory and spend a lot of time and effort, working in different teams in different places, to finally defeat him. Great team effort, with a solution tailor made for this character. A clever end after a great battle, very satisfying.

And then we find out that no, he's actually alive. How? Well, because we say so.

This is a cardinal sin in storytelling. It's just like in a long computer game. If everything has been done to win, after all the conditions have been met and it's all adapted to the long backstory, the viewers, readers and players shouldn't be cheated of the victory. Especially not with a simple, "oh, it's magic so we can do anything".

Imagine if, after Darth Vader had been swayed by his son, and sacrificed himself to kill the emperor, the emperor just survived that fall down the chute anyway. But that story was well made, so he had the good sense to die at the proper time.

The way the story keep going back to the fact that the Greeds potentially come from a very close world line to theirs and that it is impossible that they come from the same world line, I had a feeling that would be the case, but being stuck in a loop is not what I expect. They did say that the Greed is what humans would be like in the future though iirc, so that checks out.
