RWBY: Ice Queendom has not shown any significant and monumental aspects that would rival the web-series made by Monty Oum, RWBY. The first 3 episodes barely have anything to offer but Hiroto Nagata's parts. But not enough to match other animes this year.

According to the article in ANN, they had the show planned a long time ago and took a while to make it right, but anime production was devastated by COVID, which is why it looks like shit.

I thought they started this project in 2021 or in late 2020, but it needed more time that.
Now, we know why. Not because of terrible people working on it, COVID is to blame.

This series was a 2/10 in my eyes, now I'm gonna give it a pass for what happened to it...
And because I'm a fan of RWBY. 7/10.

What do you mean it looks bad? Yeah, it doesn’t follow the original story super close, but I think it still looks great.

I think it’s fine. It’s rushed, but it’s still a fun show
The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

To me, this anime is utter crap compared to the OG RWBY which I actually enjoy.

Who knows, maybe Covid affected the production of this anime but that's not an excuse, I mean, there are plenty of other animes out there that were also affected by Covid and they are way better than this, even the OG RWBY was affected by Covid and it's still better than this so no, this Covid excuse is not something I'm willing to entertain in this anime.

If the anime is bad then it's bad with Covid or without it, I'm judging the final product after all and if the final product is a piece of crap because of Covid then so be it, it's still a piece of crap in my eyes.

Bruh the first 3 eps is just for introducing the characters and speed through the basic plot, after that it was never intended to be a RWPY remake, it's a original story with RWBY characters in it

I didn't want this series to replicate the original version, making their own would be even better.
That gives them more freedom and creativity on story and animation.

I would assume that the making of volume 8 wasn't a difficult task because it's 3D and most of the people have the equipment for animation, unlike japanese animators who are underpaid and homeless most of the time to this very day, unless they work for a studio like Ufotable or Madhouse, or maybe because they're freelancers who actually have their own home and equipment for animation. Most of the time, Shaft doesn't seem to be outsourcing a lot. Only when it's necessary, I guess.

2nd of all, don't compare an american studio to a japanese studio. That comparison makes no sense as both society functions differently towards the pandemic.
One ihas done 3D animation for a long time, the other can do both but not as good as it was before. And its 3DCG is best for background and other things only. The 3D models are nothing compared to the OG RWBY now.

Another thing is to take their word for it. You wanna know why it looked bad, they answered. Take it and leave, man. This toxic mindset of the rwby fandom needs to stop.
Complaining gets us nowhere. I personally don't like what I'm watching right now, but I'll watch it nonetheless.

If season 2 is planned, just hope that they have enough time for it.

Fair enough, I'm just disappointed that something I hold dear like this franchise didn't get the attention and quality it deserves, this anime deserved better than this.

And yeah, I know the animators have it rough, I've heard they don't get paid well which sucks, I hope this changes and they get paid better, money is a good motivator after all and if they get paid well then the quality will improve. I'm just judging this anime for what it is, just a mediocre anime with nothing good going for it from what I've seen so far.

well the first 3 episodes had parts where it looked ok and others where it looked exceptional but after that, the animation quality has dropped considerably

Gave it a 4/10, I'm happy it got made. I wouldn't have watched the original, nor read the source material. So this inept as it is, still works as a sort of introduction.
