season one is good but then they went off the rails in season 2 and it makes no sense. they stopped following the manga from what I've heard. i didn't even try with season 3.

basically just watch the first season.

Ok here's the thing

S1 was only 25% canon and even then those 6 canon episodes didn't cover everything

S2 was 100% filler, but if you're going to hate it because it's filler then you may as well dislike S1

You didn't try with S3 Which is ironic considering that it's the only one that's canon ( and the movies )

The answer is both yes and no

If you want to just consume the canon material then don't bother with S1+2 and read the manga, however S3 and the movies are canon

With that being said, there's literally nothing wrong with watching S1+2 even if both are filler, i mean both are enjoyable I don understand why the anime community is so much against fillers, it's not like you can't watch them and read the manga

What I find it even dumber is that most people dislike S2 due to it being filler while liking S1 so much, there's even people who consider it to be one of the worst S2 they watched despite the fact that S1 is ALSO filler

Like yes, you can prefer a season over another, but if your reasons for not liking S2 is because it's filler, then you shouldn't even like S1 too even if S1 is 75% filler instead of 100%

In my opinion s1 is the absolute best. Just watch until ep.3 and see if you are starting to like it. Also read the manga!

I would say it’s definitely worth watching. The first season is enjoyable and pretty good in my opinion but that’s just me. Skip season 2 though it’s just filler. Season 3 is great though and definitely worth watching the whole way through but it’s all up to personal taste but that’s my take.

No, as most animes of the 2000's Black Butler is a very poor adaptation of an amazing manga, as it diverges greatly from the manga which creates plot holes inconsistencies and very poor pacing. The 2013 continuation as its sequels are great. But the manga is even better. I highly suggest reading it and skipping on the anime. But if you don't like reading manga you can see a watch guide on the internet

Yes, it’s not a top tier anime but if you’re into mystery and can stomach the main character ciel (the kid) being annoying. Then it’s worth it. Like everyone else says though it drops off after season 1, hard. So do keep that in mind 😄

I did watch the first season of Black Butler and skipped over 9 episodes. Even though I did watch the last 6 episodes despite being filler as well. And yes, I even watched season 2 and shockingly I didn't think it was actually that bad. I even gave it a 7. Book of Circus however still blows it out of the water not only because it follows the manga but because of how well written it is.

its pretty enjoyable but dont go into it expecting anything other than "enjoyable anime w some fun character designs". its not the revolutionary pinnacle of period pieces that people liked to pretend it was in its heyday. still, i enjoyed it. if u like fun character designs, chainsaw-wielding transwomen, angsty teens, drama, comedy, nudist lycanthropes, and mystery, give it a go. i have heard that the manga is much better, so if u wanna watch the anime id do it pre-manga so u can enjoy it without going "wth, this isnt what happened at all???" lol

It's worth it in the case where you want to see if you like the premise of the series and season 2 was not even necessary, it honestly got weird and season 2 was even weirder. Watch season 1 to see if you like the first half and then read the manga. The manga is absolutely top tier, like 10\10. Overall it's a good series
