Both Chen Chao and Guo Hao got their hearts broken. At least they've got each other to rely on in their solitude.

Not sure if this episode is parodying one thing in particular, but rather it might have just been its own take on a popular setting of a prom or a festival, as well as a take on meeting the girlfriend's family. Either way it was pretty funny. Sun Rong's family likely spent a fortune on glass cups and wine since Wang Ling kept breaking them.

Things are finally getting serious now though. What happened to the sacred family cudgel? Obviously Wang Ling didn't take it. But who else could have? I have a feeling the new girl Yoshiko might be involved somehow. Will need to wait another week to find out.

That was just, satisfying.
I didn't know "spitting on your hair" would still be a thing. That was gross, TBH. The intro really made a drama out of those two and we obviously got what the obvious outcome would be. RIP.

I actually thought we would finally be getting some screentime for Kyuumiya after the last episode's cliffhanger, but I guess we still need to wait for it.

I guess I don't need to tell you guys the main part if you're reading this. It's wholesome but it isn't wholesome like these two supporting characters. I wonder when we will see the two of them like this.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

this episode is seriously promoting some other show with multiple cameos of a male and female character. he has blue hair, cut in a shaggy bob style and just long enough to cover his ears. she has black hair up in a ponytail with blue on the end of her pony. she wears glasses too. check out the following timecodes:

1:50 sitting across from each other at the table next to Chen and Guo's.
5:42 clearly entering the amusement park first in line.
9:39 just exiting frame left, you gotta be quick or have the file on 0.5x speed to catch them.
11:07 clearly flirting as they're at the archery range.
15:50 releasing one of the flying lanterns together.

who is this 'couple' and what show are they from?

episode quality is back to top tier. only an absurd genius could think of the arrow doing that at first glance. the cliffhanger is also pretty interesting. now that everything is getting better I hope it stays so, both animation and sfx continue on the path of improvement into the next season

I don't know if they're from another show, but I think this couple appeared in season 1 of this series where if I remember correctly, the girl was trying to confess to the guy or flirt with him or something, then one of the teachers appeared and said students come to school to learn, not to flirt or something to that effect. I am glad we get to see these 2 characters make cameo appearances here and there though.
