| This episode was pretty good, though it started very sedate. The elfin enemy seems like at least a minor villain that will incite some changes in our heroes (sort of like Udō Jin-e in Rurouni Kenshin). I don't remember this episode at all when I watched the show in elementary school on Toonami. I assume the change I'm predicting will be that they have to leave the planet for a serious life in space. One gripe about this episode is that I wish Gene wasn't almost a sexual criminal. It seems that this is part of showing how he will have to leave his childish behavior behind (along with his wound at the end of the episode). |
| Quick work by Suzuka!! Not surprised how Suzuka will probably replace Hilda as the femme fatale of the team. Still have to wonder why the pirates are attacking Gene. Heck, they couldn't careless about Melfina, even though she was originally the objective of their former leader. Now, we have to see ClanClan Aisha back!! Honestly, I know there have been comparisons and all. But I'm starting to prefer this more than Cowboy Bebop. This feels more like an actual space cowboy with bounty hunting while Cowboy Bebop focuses mostly on just Spike and more personal, while Gene is just here along the ride, until he probably meets Mcdougal and the people responsible for his dad's death. Gonna be interesting how the two stack up by the end! |

| It looks like Suzuka is gonna be siding with Gene and co from now on, that's good. What's also good is that we get to see more of her in action against the pirates and even managing to slice up one of them. Which was pretty neat itself. I mean they are pretty relentless against Gene's crew, they were originally going after Melafina but what purpose could they now want with just Gene? Speaking of which I love that he got himself wounded by a gunshot and literally focused on the Outlaw Star for it's repairs. Pretty based move I'm not gonna lie. Obviously he's not gonna die in this show but I think he's gonna be out of commission for the next episode at least for the first half. He'll bounce back I know it. At the moment in terms of the show I think what they are doing is, they setting up the crew and then the major threats to them will come later which seems smart right now. Cuz so far pacing is pretty fast, moves along rather smoothly and there's really not a dull moment with Outlaw Star so far. Episode overall was pretty good, a bit dead in the first half but it soon picked up from there. Pretty good, pretty good. |
