well imagine you have a job with hi authority then random edgy dude show up and destroying your career also she have really hi ego and think as strogest in kindom yet not realise the world is huge there somebody stronger than her.

you should be already get hint when she say how weak her sister is and never admit someone stroger than her also never want to admit her own sister to get stroger.

Maybe she sees Shadow Garden as the terrorists that took the school hostage way back?

Also accusing Shadow of wreaking havoc, while it's Iris and Beatrice who attacked him and most of the damage is him just avoiding or parrying their attacks is priceless xD

Since the beginning, she thought Shadow wasn't that strong, that he used an artifact or something
She also was proud of her swordsmanship, and believed to know better than everyone else (she never listened to her sister's warnings, believed that her position in the military was a mistake, underestimated Mundane...)
In the end, she got humiliated twice in the same day by Shadow, the one she believed to be "cheating" by using an artifact, when she was the one who used, like Shadow said, a "borrowed power" (her mithril sword)
Also, when he was about to use I Am Atomic, she dropped her sword, meaning she lost her will to fight, and her belief in her strength, yet she didn't die, and was probably ashamed because of that too

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she joined the Cult down the road, it would be a good way to separate her's and Alexia's sword (she didn't believe in her sword until the end, while Alexia continued to train even during I Am Atomic)

It probably won't happen, but who knows?

She has all the reason in the world to hate Shadow. Just try looking at things from her perspective. You are the first princess of a kingdom and wish to do everything in your power to protect it and your people. Then all of a sudden, 2 cults show up out of nowhere and wreak havoc throughout the kingdom, destroy buildings and create a freakin crater in the middle of it. Not to mention things like the terrorist attack at your most prestigious school, setting the school on fire, killing students & civilians and bunch of other crimes. All the while, the royalty and the military force couldn't do sh*t against any of them. As the commander of her knight troops and the strongest swordswoman in the kingdom you'd be beyond frustrated.

Also, all the evidence of these crimes points to Shadow garden, and since Shadow don't give a single f*ck about any of it, the Shadow garden members including Alpha decided to leave it at that and decided to not prove their innocence. So, from Iris's point of view, Shadow is the ultimate evil mastermind behind all the destruction and suffering of her kingdom. Just being mad at him is an understatement. She would be willing to give up her life if she can hunt down the most notorious criminal that's threatening her kingdom and the lives of her people.

That is a correct analysis and you are totally correct.
But she was unhinged before they stated flying around the city and she emphasized that "he wrought havoc around the capital", so I guess him going Atomic is the middle of the city and humiliating her as Mundane was the biggest factor.

It is the typical pride of royals. Imagine a princess, trained in combat for a long time, only to suddenly lose against a "criminal" (Shadow in this case). It is like One Piece's World Government (especially Akainu) getting Angry at Luffy (a Pirate) for defeating Crocodile or Doflamingo as "Justice" is a job for the Marines not pirates. To put it simply, people have a grudge against humiliation.

It also gets worse as I am told that

Not only this, but Shadow showed that he is completely above her in swordsmanship and raw power. Two of the things that she was confident that she was one of the strongest in the world!

Sure, her pride being shattered is indeed a factor. But I believe the primary reason for her hatred are the things I mentioned earlier. I don't think she's that low of a human being to be hating someone just because they are stronger than her. You can see that from her fight with Mundane Mann. She acknowledged his power and accepted her defeat. But the hatred kicked in only after she saw him transform into Shadow.

In a hypothetical scenario where Shadow didn't go batshit crazy in her hometown and cause all those incidents, I'd imagine she might act more like Annerose even if she were to get utterly trashed by him. She'll probably even become a Shadow fan and would want him to lend his strength for her kingdom.

She never "hated" him at this point in the novel though. (LN spoilers)
Well, I thought my explanation would be enough to satisfy the anime only viewers. I've read the LNs and even though it's not explicitly stated that she "hates" him at this point in the story, from an objective point of view, it seems entirely plausible. The fact that she refuses to believe Rose or her sister when it comes to Shadow garden even though that's the most reasonable thing to do shows that her growing feelings of hatred for Shadow is preventing her from thinking clearly. As for the reason for this hatred, it might be a combination of the things I mentioned on my previous comment, her inflated ego and an intrinsic fear of the absolute power of Shadow. We can verify this very fact down the line in volume 5 by how easy it was for the cult of Diabolos to deceive/manipulate her using her hatred for Shadow. We'll probably get to see how all of this eventually turns out in volume 6.

With all that said, your explanation also make a lot of sense. It's a novel anyway, so the readers are free to interpret it anyway they like. And you can see how the author and the anime staff interpreted it by how they adapted the final episode, which highlighted her intense hatred for Shadow.

This is indeed entirely correct.

She was also unhinged before she knew Mundane was Shadow, she was going for a kill at full power.

The author is even helping people along by contrasting her with first Annerose and then Beatrix and even her sister.

And remember it's not just Shadow, she was also railing against her father who, after his initial completely one sided portrayal, is revealed to be politically deft and acutely aware of the power of the enemy ranged against his kingdom.

@Kuroimi + she becomes obsessed with beating shadow in combat, i wouldn't be surprised if her own ppl turn against her at 1point cause she may cause a political incident that can cause a war if she continues her path of obsessing over shadow

Iris is the self righteous type. I don’t understand why her father lets her and her sister run the capital lol. The dad said it best in the second to last ep of season 1. “You’re more concerned with proving yourself right then you are with saving the city”. She’s talking smack at the end of the final episode that shadow just destroyed the city? Um you’re destroying just as must sister. Get over yourself- that crazed cuckoo look in her eyes was disturbing.
