What is everyone’s opinion on Takemichi as a character? I haven’t read the manga but 2 seasons in and I still don’t really like him. I don’t hate him but I get tired of him crying all the time. The only thing I like about him is his relationship with Hina. Wanted to know what everyone else thinks about him.

I think the idea of his character is far better than most MCs we see in shounens. The show makes it blatantly obvious that he’s weak and shits his pants when he sneezes (as well as being nicknamed as a crybaby hero). This provides him with incredible potential for development, but as we see him right now in the anime, there hasn’t been an impressive amount of progress on that. Overall, he’s a character that I respect and am looking forward to seeing grow. I am an anime-only, but I’d like to think that he eventually reaches a level where he’s able to strategize and manipulate certain scenarios to reach his goal instead of always crying or relying on someone to save the day. They can make him physically stronger, but I’d be far more impressed if he becomes a smarter and more resilient character.

I accidentally voted I hate him but I really love him 😭. I used to kinda hate him back when I only watched season 1 though, I thought he was so annoying, but then I read the manga and he became one of my favorites characters. The anime is nice and I really enjoyed it but I feel like it’s missing the vibes from the manga, especially with takemichi cause in the manga I felt like he was way cooler in that fight with taiju for example, in the anime it was bland in comparison so I was pretty disappointed. Manga michi is definitely better. Maybe i also found him annoying cause i didn’t like his voice lol it’s kinda annoying

I think when you get to read the Manga and see what lengths he was willing to go to just to save people, you will grow to love him

we love him because he is improving day by day. He can't fight because he isn't a by born fighter. I respect him ❤

Unlike many other popular shounen protagonists, Takemichi's weakness and vulnerability allows other characters to shine. What makes him so likeable and impressive to those characters is the way he does not run or give up on a fight even having absolutely no chance of winning.

I understand that most people are used to mind-blowing strong protagonists who are always the one having to solve the problems, but to me, getting to see a main character that's a total loser achieve small victories through resilience and determination is interesting.

Takemichi doesn't suck as a MC. He's just expected to act a certain way people think it'd be better, stronger, smarter. But he's none of it.

"Does he ever get better?" ... but does he have to?

slightly annoying character but honestly i wouldn't go as far to say I hate him or even dislike him. The lengths he goes are pretty incredible so I like him because of that but again, be can be a bit annoying.

I like how despite him being really weak, he’s actually the strongest willed person in toman, dude was willing to take one hell of a beating for a guy he barely even knew

More like, he's the only adult man redoing his life after time travelling and knowing the future. He's just a coward put in a position where he has nothing to lose and a lot to win. Meanwhile the others are powerless teenagers living their one and only life the best they can.

He’s definitely not a coward though?? He does get afraid easily and cries a lot, but a coward is someone who runs away from his problems and abandons others out of fear for their own well being, which is something he never once did despite the fact that in most conflicts all the odds were literally against him. Plus he did have a lot to lose. Most people wouldn’t have been able to handle all the stress of trying to fix multiple timelines and facing opponents ten times larger and stronger and probably would have just avoided everyone involved in the bad future to keep on living, but he kept going not for himself, but for the sake of his loved ones. Idk if you have read the manga but for example

most of the people hating on him would break down even more if they were in his scenario. smh.
