why does this count as an anime, but other america shows made by asian studios do not

This is based off an american comic, but animated by a japanese studio
so why aren't other cases like this considered
Ex. Transformers Prime is animated by polygon pictures, a japanese studio, but is based off a *mostly* american brand, yet it doesn't have a MAL page
why does this get special treatment?

Still waiting for valerian and laureline to get added to here wtf
also why are there surprisingly large amounts of terrible chinese and korean cartoons on here from mid-2000s that can barely be classified as "anime"
