What happend to isshiki screentime?

I currently am watching the season 2 of chuunibyou, i first noticed this around the napping contest episode, where they only show Isshiki for a few seconds and that was just it. He isn't my favorite character but he was likeable and he fit in with the club. Thoughts?

He became a background character and honestly, that disappointed it me too when I watched the second season. He was literally my favourite character.

They did my guy so dirty it's painful. He takes one for the team in Season 1 and becomes a literal punching bag for the rest of the show

Yeah I noticed that too. He went from sidekick to joke background punching bag character. Its strange, because previous KyoAni anime I watched usually had a sidekick/best bro dynamic going, but it seems they ditched it for this one. Its probably a popularity thing, people wanted a harem scenario and didn't like him, so he had to go, theyre just giving the audience what they want. I personally find it ok since it breaks a little off the formula I was used to with KyoAni, but then again I'm no expert so I might be wrong.
