I think zeon might actually be based on the soviet union.

I know its very popular to think that zeon is based on nazi germany since they basicly wear stalhelms and literally copied the nazi flags etc.

however this is just outside appearances.

if you look at the flash backs.
deikun = lenin
jimba ral = trosky
zabi = stalin.

deikun's message is absolutely nothing like fascism, it sounds alot more like marxist leninist believes, of the war uprising against the federations colonists. and the give power to the colonies and working class etc.

meanwhile zabi after his death took advantage of this to gain political power, and blamed it on jimba ral, similar to how stalin tricked trotski and made him miss lenins birthday and kept spreading propaganda against him, to eventually oust him from power and destroy his influence.

then zabi became exactly like stalin starting a cult of personality around him similar to stalin and political purges and completely discarding the core beliefs of lenin/deikun.

its like north korea turning from originally a socialist society to slowly become some kind of absolute monarchy(although in this case I don't believe everything about nk to be completely factual)

basically zeon was originally designed as a socialist republic but opportunist zabi turned it into something like north korea with a family dynasty, and a cult of personality like stalin after killing his rivals

also and another thing

When people say that Zeon is like Nazis, I expect a little more obsession over racial stuff, which the zeon doesn't seem to have at all.

if anything they would be more napoleonic with the zabis being like napoleons family

@Neostorm-X it always feels strange because of that, there is the newtype thing but when there's an actual difference since newtypes are biologically different it feels more about transhumanism, so yes I can see how both Nazis and Zeon utilities the idea of Ubermensch but the discussion it brings and how the idea relates to the group is differet

Aren't they actually more based on imperial Japan?
But I think Zeon (and Gundam's factions in general) while being influenced by the real world, saying they are an analog to a specific group is wrong, it takes a lot from different places and you can apply it to real groups and ww2 but saying "x faction is space y" misses the point
