| This anime did need that bit of instrumental play and music. More of a relaxed and fun episode compared to the previous. And seeing Hyouma becoming closer to Botan also brings more hope to their relationship. I wonder how much this season will focus on the two together. |

| Quite the show as a welcome present to the city. A date with Kagami huh nice. Nice opportunity to check in romance wise for Hyoma as well. Good going in managing to get Kagami's approval. While the date went well Hyoma sure spoiled it with his hunger to get back on the job. Despite her origin it's nice to see Botan have friends that care about her. The contrast between the light hearted moments with Hyoma and Botan really contrasted well with the serious discussion that Haori and co had with the bureau. Looks like the paper umbrella has become a pretty hot topic for more than Hyoma. |

| The return of the Bureau of Traditional Music brings the community together, though Kagami wants to bring Hyoma to a romantic check-up...by bringing him to a mock date, as means of judging him and his romantic relationship with Botan going forward. But though "fun" is not in Hyoma's dictionary, he's thinking it along the lines of the tsukumogami instead of Botan, though he's conscious about it, even if for a speck of dust. Though it's clear that Hyoma understands her from a rather different point of view, the hesitant Kagami from the start, has made confidant to Hyoma can deliver. There is no changing Hyoma's side of the tsukumogami, but Botan clearly sees him the way she can see him. The Bureau invading the Nagatsuki household, and Hyoma leaving in a fit because he could not follow up with them, or rather, have their own proposition that makes them hard to deal with. And like fate, Botan's college friends Kei and Natsuki meet Hyoma to drag him away for their use. The Bureau, aware that the hard-and-fast rule of not using Botan is solid, though putting her and Hyoma together technically breaks that rule. And like friends out of concern, Botan comes in are mocks her friends, though relentless of their intentions. The marebito within Botan that'll decide between Heaven and Hell, a bridal trousseau would help alleviate all troubles, and there's no partner better than Hyoma Kunato to be her support, that theory was indeed right on the money. Their real intent of investigating the paper umbrella tsukumogami, now that's a cause for concern. A chill pill episode expanding on relationships, it's good to check every once in a while. |

| Probably my fave Mononogatari episode so far tbh. Loved Kagami and Hyoma’s practice date. Honestly thought the way Kagami was reacting there that she might have feelings for Hyoma lol. Botan’s friends trying to question Hyoma was hilarious. His stiffness really shows when he talks to normal young people. As for the traditional music bureau’s conversation with the Nagatsuki leadership, I don’t think they ONLY want her to marry Hyoma because of the Marebito stuff. That may have been the original intention, but I think, like Kagami said, they want her to be happy and think she and Hyoma are a good fit. Kagami is so pretty in casual clothes  |

| Speak of paper umbrellas and they do appear. probably just as well MC hopefully hasnt walked to far. Great episode exploring the growing feelings the pair have and finding out why everyone's so enthusiastic about date night. |

| So the music tsukumogami, specifically the old lady, was correct given Haori's reaction. More importantly, it looks like the paper umbrella tsukumogami is right behind Botan, probably not good news. The paper umbrella tsukumogami does not look like the one that killed Hyoma's siblings although I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that one or a different one (maybe a similar one?). Beyond that this was more slice of life which I don't mind, its funny how Botan reacted when her friends suspect her and Hyoma are not just "distant relatives." |

| The romance subplot should be more subtle or atleast well blended into the main story. Everything looks so out of place that the whole episode felt like a filler. |

| So far not liking this season as much as the first. It seems like it's making a hard pivot to full on romance anime, I wouldn't have a problem with that but so far it seems like the writer doesn't know how to handle that genre. I haven't read the manga so I'm not sure if this is the author's fault of the adaptation team's. Also a lot of the scene changes in these first two episodes seem abrupt and disjointed from the other parts of the show, I don't remember this being an issue in the first season as much. |
