| He is like that throughout the series. In S2 IMO he is at his worst with his self congratulatory, white knight attitude. According to source readers he actually will change in S5 |

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating. |

If that is your opinion of Bell, then you are not understanding the anime.
| Okay I just watched episode 8 and it was awesome. I think I will manage it somehow, just going to take it slow in S2. CrunchyCrobat said: Tbh, I don't really see him as such that much, who wouldn't be awkward in front of their crush, but at least unlike other protagonist, he is honest and knows who he loves and tries to be better for her, he is one of better done fantasy protagonists and it really shows his character development in season 3 and 4, season 2 might be a hard ride cause there isn't anything that good, but if you do make it through, not only bell but the whole series gets a lot better I literally just completed goblin slayer before starting on this one, probably my thoughts on bell is biased because I really liked the personality of goblin slayer. | Bell is 14 years old. Still 14 by vol 19. What are you expecting from a 14 years old raised alone by his grandpa, I'm not sure, but that seems a bit weird to me. I mean I guess he may become less awkward and less dense in season 5 depending of what you mean by that, but that's about it. |

He does grow throughout the series, but season 1 shows his good character the most. |
