I thought maybe Seiji using corporal punishment in the flashback would be a one time thing, but he was still resorting to it in the present :( I mean I doubt he's overusing it, given that in the flashback, he did let the dog bite him. Seeing that again of course made Shinichirou angry, although he shouldn't have hit Seiji, either. I was a bit confused as to entirely label Seiji's methods as bad, just like Miyu, seeing how well-behaved the dogs are after training, how they are able to return to their family. I went to look up some information about if you should never use punishments with dogs/animals, and everyone says no, you shouldn't, because dogs learn best by positive reinforcement. Surely, then, Seiji is wrong? I'm not sure if they could have done anything else during the flashback when Shinichirou could've been even more injured than he was. But being that rough on a small dog, I don't think that was necessary :(

I'm glad Shinichirou went his own path, and Seiji also tried to get him to do that as well, entrusting Ourson to go with Shinichirou. I do understand that it really hurt Shinichirou to have lost his father figure due to losing trust and differences in values. I'm glad he seemed to have moved forward, though.

Man, this series really does have you thinking hard about right and wrong and the fine line between the two
Kind of made me think about how I used to be hit on the palm of my hands as a kid from time to time being disciplined 😂
Tho I am glad that Miyu thinks the way he thinks and can see the motives behind Seiji as opposed to thinking in black and white, the show as a whole is starting to grow on me a lot more after having found the majority of characters annoying in the first episode ahahahhahahah

Edit: Also, brown hair?????????? I thought Miyu's hair is blonde 😂

This and the previous episode were really good!

I can't talk about how it is with dogs but with horses, the question of corporal punishment is always a big controversy and people who are strictly against it often condemn those who use it. From my personal experience, there certainly are situations where it's appropriate. But it very much depends on the horse itself and there are also people who overdo it.
Then again, dogs are smaller, more fragile and unlike horses, don't hit each other (horses are quite rough with each other!). So no clue what's the consus here, but I like how they fleshed out Seiji still loves dogs, even if he doesn't use his kind methods anymore.

And, of course, he is abseloutly right about saving dogs from being put down. I'm sure many owners don't have patience with trainers, so it very much matters if a method is faster and more efficient, even if it's not the nicest.
