Although not perfect, MAL score is usually a good indicator of how good or bad a show is, but every now and then there are some shows that get bad reviews for external reasons. Now don't get me wrong, its not a masterpiece and the characters are a bit bland, but its a nice sci fi story that is concluded, and if the animation was not CGI it would probably sit somewhere near a 7.5.

Just putting this out there for people who come to the anime's forum undecided.

That's exactly what I've been thinking about!

As you said, this anime is not perfect, but what I like about it the most is the plot and worldbuilding. These two things alone made me really enjoy it. And 3D animation is not the worst either when you get used to it after some episodes
I personally scored it 7/10 and the sequel movie was even better, 8/10 for me

I gave it an 8. I really enjoyed this show! also, the cgi wasn't bad. People just prefer all hand drawn anime over cgi. If the full cgi animes got better scores, then the cgi would continue to be better quality.

@Potatoboy11 Im gonna be honest, it answered questions and closed off the story, its more than you get for a lot of 1 season animes.

I’d rather see decent fluid CGI than slideshow low budget 2D animation tbh, if a studio needs to do this to make a show fit its budget I really don’t mind. It was a decent anime!

I wasn't bothered by that honestly. It gave it a different feel from other anime and really fits the vibe.

I thought after the success of Houseki no Kuni, people wouldn't feel that apprehensive towards CGI anime. I personally loved the world building Ooyukiumi no Kaina provided and wish more people gave it a try and saw past the medium of choice

Yeah, great show
It has an actual conclusive ending, interesting world building, 3D that looks decent and plot that is surprisingly easy to follow. As a bonus it also features tons of Blame! references.

@NaMroz the anime community is full of pretentious "elite" sycophants. It is sick. They are worse than even the Rick & Morty fanbase.

They don't understand that hand drawn art died in the 90s and Redline was last big hurrah.
Literally everything else is done using 3D and CGI. But while they may hide it behind the "anime-sque" style that is barely visible to the eye, some outliers that want innovation go head first into CGI.
We get failures like Berserk and we get masterpieces like Into the Spiderverse.

But not everything can be either an instant classic or pathetic failure, everything is somewhere in between.
The question is what side it is leaning to.
Sidonia, Kaina and many more underrated works are on the side of good quality.
But the sick community does not want to realize that. They simply vote it down and move on to watching yet another trash isekai or harem.
I say let peasants be peasants, the pig farmers can't help themselves. That is their nature..

Who I do respect are all of you people here, we are the ones who know. Keep enjoying and watch the progress of 3D. We came this far from the early Final Fantasy movie days.
We are only a quarter into this century. Give it time ;)
