Disappointing 2nd Season

Tower of God season 2 has been incredibly disappointing and huge step down from season 1. Season 1, animated by Telecom Animation Film, overall can be agreed was good. Sure it had it's flaws, the animation wasn't perfect but it did have it's moments. I personally loved the unique art style, it suited the tower very much, filled with vibrant colours and character designs.

Now season 2. Dull generic art style, animation is incredibly subpar and story feels somewhat under-developed. Having read the original manhwa, this new adaptation feels unfamiliar and rushed. Animation quality seems to drop every episode with more and more still frames.

I think as of now there isn't a confirmation about total number of episodes, but brings into question about the future of this series.

As an anime-only viewer, I agree with you on some points. In my opinion, *Tower of God* didn't have a clear storyline anyway. We just watched the characters doing things, but we didn’t know who they were, where they came from, or why they were doing it. So season 2 isn’t much different. Personally, I prefer the art style of Season 2 over Season 1; it feels more like an anime. When I first watched *Tower of God*, I couldn’t get into it because it looked more like a basic cartoon to me.

Season 2 has less charm and the story got goofy. The whole "Viole" character feels like he's just being edgy for no reason. I miss the characters and animation from the first season as well. Unfortunate, considering it was a great first season.

As someone who’s read a bit further in the manhwa but has only watched the first episode of season two all I can say is;
Wait, season two (in the manhwa at least) starts really really slow and we obviously miss all the characters from season one. Everyone from season one will be reintroduced eventually, obviously, and once that happens things pick up again. I’ve got no comment on the animation as I’ve only seen the first episode but in terms of the plot, just give it some time and wait a bit. The plot slowly unfolds itself and becomes a bit clearer as time goes on. Just remember the manhwa is well over five hundred chapters, if I remember correctly season two goes all the way into the three hundreds. So it’s bound to be slow, but if you give it some time it’ll be better, kinda comparable to the Chimera Ant Arc in HxH for those who know.

As an anime only watcher and someone who has watched w episodes so far (dub started last week), it's been good so far and I'm enjoyin' it. Sure the animation quality dropped but it's not terrible that I'd call it disappointing. So chillax.

I’ve only watched the anime and I don’t know if it’s cause I watched season 1 so long ago but season 2 feels decent so far at least animation wise. I’m probably the only one to feel this way but I’m not really a fan of the characters that have been added so far. I’m more than happy to die on the hill alone tho lol.

It's even worse than Boruto fillers... S2 looking like the most generic isekai anime shit. You can count key frames with both hands fingers. I don't get the explanation that they save budget for more important episodes. It can be in One Piece or Boruto, not seasonal anime with 13(!) episodes.

I agree that the 1st season animation was better than this, it matches the vibe of the tower. I do feel like plot was rushed, but iirc the manhwa also has the same pace or slower but just a little bit. But none of those is bugging me cuz im here for the story. My advice is you should drop your thinking about stuff like animation and be thankful that the animation isnt as hideous as 3 years old using blender, if you cant do that, you wont be able to enjoy what little things the world gives you for entertainment.

After episode 4 and seeing how they adapted it and what they cut out my hopes for it being any good sunk to the bottom. They did a bad job. I can already predict the finale will be a confusing mess.

I get it for anime viewers only but you said you read the original manhwa, you read this a long time ago or didn't pay attention to it. This is exactly how the manhwa is. you are lost with the story and is kinda slow and weird cuz you don't get to see the old characters.

And this second season it will 2 cours and they also said what arcs will cover .

The quality drop is jarring. It honestly ruins everything. The voice acting, the change in art style, the clearly lacking animation. I’ll just stick to reading it.
The first season felt unique and refreshing. Only four episodes in and this one is a soulless shell.
And anime is a cartoon, they are the same concept. Hot take, this one just isn’t good

The change in visual style was unnecessary, but I don't think it's as bad as people complain here.
4 years ago people also complained that this anime looks ugly. The creators listened, change it and now they have to listen to the complaints again, because people have already gotten used to that previous style.
I don't think it's good looking anime, the drawings have a lot of flaws, animations in some scenes are good, but in other they are poor, but overall there is no tragedy. The criticism on MAL is simply exaggerated.

@Soleks100000 There were many things wrong with season 1, many cuts to the story, poor animations, flat direction, etc... but at least it was a half-finished job, here we are really at the bottom of the barrel with this 2nd season, the production seems to be dead and the creators did not listen to the complaints, they simply changed studio and the result this new studio does not know how to do its job, even the fan animations are better than this badly done abortion

@Kreshre How do you not see problems when this whole show is a problem? Non-existent animations, grating dubbing, fast pace, terrible direction, cuts to the story, this whole anime is a mess to watch

Yep 5th is out and more or less the same. Although I think it was more bearable than previous few. Slightly better animation and some movement? But some drawings were outright wrong/off.
