"Movie compilation of season one of Ore dake Level Up na Ken, with the addition of the first two episodes of the second season."

They're going to include two episodes of season 2 end of November even though it won't release until beginning of January? Is that normal?

If this airs in November 29 then is just one month, not 3.
Not the first show to do this, Demon Slayer did it too, and Dandadan just few days ago.

@Punkero Fair point, I've updated my initial post. I guess 4-5 weeks isn't that crazy, though I'll probably wait anyway. Does that mean the first episode in January should be episode 3?

No, in January it will start at episode 1.
This is just an advanced screening.

@JaysonNnN Then I'm definitely waiting, since that means at least 6 weeks to get to the next episode. Thanks.

maaaan! :( that's just MEAN! everybody in Japan (and wherever else this movie is released) gets to watch the first two episodes of season two THAT early?

i can understand having an 'early release' streaming or on a TV broadcast of the first two episodes aired back-to-back on day one or a live event where folks who buy the ticket get to watch some footage or the whole first episode...

but putting the episodes at (i'm guessing) the tail end of a season 1 compilation movie... in-theater? compilation movies of TV seasons are a valid cash-grab/profit making event, i totally support that! putting a tiny bit of new scenes or a redone scene or some kind of new content... in that compilation movie? yep i'm fine with that! but this idea of the first two episodes of season two? no. that's just... giving everybody else all OVER THE WORLD who wants to watch more Solo Leveling... yet another reason to be grumpy and complain online... like i am right now... about how anime productions are just too damn concerned with getting paid every way possible!
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

Kimetsu and many other did it, and it was 2 months before the season or 3, here it's only 1 month before, I don't understand what you're complaining about tbh

in the 30+ years i've been watching anime, i've only ever seen ONE anime movie hit the USA just as fast as it released in-theater in Japan... 'Burn The Witch'... Crunchyroll streamed it in two parts the same day it released in-theater in Japan. most anime movies take MORE than 3-6 MONTHS to even be pirated off a disk, let alone a theatrical release in the US or streamed legally. some anime movies get the crappy camrips where folks record the film on a camera and upload em... so giving a 'select few' who get their butts into the theater seats for this compilation movie a leg up on everybody else around the whole WORLD? that's just not sitting right with me.

The consequences of the Mugen Train movie has been an enigma within the Anime Industry.

It's becoming the new normal unfortunately. I rather just have the second season instead of this annoying hype building, keys jingling in my face-esque bullshit.

I'm just gonna wait for the second season to drop, not wasting my time for a recap and two episodes...matter of fact, I'll just finish the manwha.

@KiliianSleipnir You realize Solo Leveling is produced by a Japanese committee right? Of course they're gonna prioritize getting as much money out of the franchise in Japan because it's easier to gauge how much money it's bringing in domestically. Globally is a whole different playing field, where piracy takes up a massive percentage of Western anime watchers, so it's near impossible to predict just how much money a movie will generate outside of Japan unless you're a globally recognized franchise like Demon Slayer or Dragon Ball. There's also other stuff that would take time like translating. Also your point about having to watch a camrip isn't exclusive to anime, most movies with a theatrical release take 3+ months to be on Blu Ray. At the end of the day, production committees in Japan are gonna focus mainly on the domestic market, whether it sits right with you or not.

I wonder if this will stay on myanimelist, the demon slayer films that were this exact formula were on here until they removed them so I don't know why this entry would get accepted if it is most likely going to be removed in the future too

In theaters.
But it's just a 80 mins recap of S1 plus first two episodes of S2.
You can just wait for regular streaming to start for the next season.
