Going by the Livechart description...

>This riveting samurai series from the acclaimed creator of Days shares its setting with Rurouni Kenshin

My first thought is, maybe they just mean it's the same time period or typte of place as this other popular thing, though that's a weirdly specific and awkward way of putting it. Are these shows/series actually related somehow? Like do the characters exist in the same time/place as each other? Is this a Kenshin spin-off?

The MAL description for this show says

>It's 1863, the twilight of the shogunate,

Compare to Kenshin's manga description

https://myanimelist.net/manga/22/Rurouni_Kenshin__Meiji_Kenkaku_Romantan

>Now in the 11th year of Meiji,

I queried wolframalpha with "11th year of Meiji era in gregorian" and got back "Thursday, January 3, 1878", which would put Kenshin a bit ahead of Ao no Miburo. With the timing difference I could see it having Kenshin before he became a good peace-loving guy.

I don’t believe the series’ are related outside of general time period. This series just takes place in the lead up to the Meiji era, while Rurouni Kenshin’s main story takes place within said era.

No, they are not related, only the historical period is the same.

This just takes place at the same era as kenshin, both are just based on actual Japanese history for their setting.

This anime is birth of Shinsengumi. They are called Miborogumi for a while until they made a name for themselves.

Your first thought was right, the two series aren't related, they're just set in the same time period and are about the same historical figures and events.

@t_tobago This.

Not everything's related to Kenshin and the time period isn't unique or created by Kenshin.
