| Hello, hello, and a very belated welcome to MyAnimeDesh! I wanted to design a fancy looking thread to start and clearly display what our club etiquette should be, but since we have so few members and I keep forgetting, might as well stop overthinking and start as casually as possible! Hi hi hello everyone! By now you should all be able to invite your friends if you want. Of course rules... there is the standard MyAnimeList general rules, though I will be generous with the language rule and assume MAL should be fine with clubs allowing others to type in other languages. Some older South Asian clubs I see here just have people type in Romanized Bangla or Hindi around; while I do prefer if everyone can understand each other with just English, I guess I wouldn't mind if you are all at least respectful and maybe hopefully have some multilingual mods around soon! And this goes without saying, but just in case cuz I don't wanna assume everyone has the same kind of American mindset as I do, I would like this place to be a queer/LGBTQ+ friendly community! Won't try to force politics, I'd rather not really have any politics around here aside from mentioning this, I know I know please don't sigh I'm sorry, but... it doesn't hurt to be at least respectful whether you are part of the community, only identify as one of those labels, or are neither. The world is already very hateful, and it doesn't take much to spread positivity or at least basic human respect to all. ...I guess just be mindful and nice as you can and this place will just be quite swell~ god I feel like Willy Wonka rn haha ★-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-★ Buuuuuut anyway... I also want to make this thread one that can be used by not just the club managers, and make the members as well part of a discussion here and bring everyone together. And I will do that by mentioning... Club Relations! You may have noticed a long list of anime/manga/characters on the right of the Club Main Page below the club's information and soon upcoming avatar. I have seen a lot of Reddit posts, Quora questions, etc asking if there is any kind of South Asian presence in animanga, especially those asking about Indian characters. Any Indian/South Asian characters in anime? : : r/anime Indian characters in anime ? : r/anime Anime set on India/ anything related to India : r/Animesuggest Desi Anime characters? : r/ABCDesis Is there any anime that has a Indian character or an Arab character? : r/anime Quora: Who are some Indian anime characters? Is there any Indian Japanese anime? Has India featured in any anime's episode? First off—yes indeed, there is South Asian characters AND culture present in a decent amount of anime and manga!  And I want to use the Club Relations feature of MyAnimeDesh to be a list as complete as possible, and in one single place for all these people asking... or for people to search for reasons like maybe finding a South Asian character to cosplay without feeling like they aren't the right kind of person, or to draw South Asian characters that actually have existed on their own and give lots of these little known characters a chance in the spotlight! Here is our Club Relations list at this very beginning moment of our hopefully flourishing Club history: I tried to search all over the internet for animanga and characters that had at least a notable usage of a South Asian country's culture and/or had at least one prominent character that is South Asian/Desi. I made sure to extra confirm that they were arguably applicable to our Club Relations especially since I didn't even know about most of these. But if I made any mistakes or left some of your favorites out, please feel free to reply and share! You can also argue/ask questions as to why certain entries were included, or if you don't think they should count. I want everyone to have a say in this, and help everyone else compile this list for their fellow South Asian askers!
