When I first started watching it, I was a little bit taken aback about the fact that the Japanese seem to have an infatuation with Norse mythology since this came out. The fact that they didn’t need to do much explanation for a lot of the Norse characters, suggest that they were in fact, infatuated, though correct me if I’m wrong. And the fact that it came out in 1979 begs a question. Just how long have they been infatuated with Norse mythology anyway? I thought that was just in the recent decade or two with so many anime, like Ah My Goddess!, as well as the second season of Sword Art Online, and more recently Vinland Saga. As well as Final Fantasy, especially in 13, as well as the summons.

@DinisB it came out in 1964? Wow. And just think, that’s that particular story. I wonder if there’s stories that came out even earlier, where Norse mythology was prevalent, or at least featured.
