They absolutely REFUSED to animate him. They usually show a still image, or hide him. I think he moves like 3 times in the whole show. Even then they manage to give Kama plenty of personality and it adds to the comedy.



I'm not sure if it's a direct gag from the manga, or if the animators didn't want to deal with animals, but I appreciate the bit.

I'm not surprised by that. The entire anime's animation was low quality, so it's not surprising that Kama, who didn't have much screen time, was animated like this.
