I’ll give this finale points for bringing back Taro-chan once again, his first return surprised me and this one did too, I believe his first appearance was way back in Season 2, and honestly puppets are pretty spooky on their own so I can see why he’s made another comeback. And I actually found his shenanigans unsettling in this one, like everything he was doing was just enough so our MC could never truly tell if he was being messed with or not, although I did find it funny that even when his friend was dead in the tub and Taro-chan was moving on his own, his thought process was still “man this gag is detailed, how is he doing this?” lol.

Well at least this episode was both scary and amusing, so for that I think it was a strong ending so this 14th season, of course I would have liked another meta ending where the storyteller appears but something like this is fun too. Unfortunately tho I think this was overall one of the weaker seasons, a good amount of episodes weren’t doing it for me, and I also don’t think the theme of this seaosn made for many good stories. However, Yamishibai is always a good time, the episodes are so short and sweet after all, if an episode is bad or average it’s not a big offense, and there were some truly great episodes this season too, my favorites were “The Nightjar’s Nest”, “Lies and Truth”, “Crane”, “Desire Release”, and this one, “Taro-chan Returns Again.” Also I think this ED was among the best of the series too, I love breaking it down after some spooks lol.

Hopefully they’ll make another one of these, if they do I’ll be there, for now tho it’s over for us Yamishibai bros yet again.

Taro-chan 3: Tokyo Drift

There's no stopping Taro-chan! Last time we saw him, he was being cremated. I enjoyed this one. The dead guy in the bathtub got me good.

Not the best season ever, some of them I didn't understand because I don't know Buddhist philosophy. However, "Paprika" was one of the best episodes ever imo. I also enjoyed "Desire Release" and "Used Car".

Not a bad finale. This season was hit and miss, but it had a few really good episodes on the Yami Shibai scale. It wasn't as good as the best seasons, but much better than the worst seasons. I gave this season a 5/10 as I enjoyed about half of the episodes :P

While I initially groaned at seeing the name Taro-chan again, I'm glad to say this episode exceeded my expectations, even though they were kinda low. I like how this episode differed from the other two Taro-chan episodes slightly while still keeping Taro-chan consistent. The fate of the main character's friend was a good use of shock and I can't help but wonder how he "arranged" for the main character to get Taro-chan despite losing the auction.

This season was definitely not the greatest. Most episodes felt undercooked or straight up unfinished, but at the very least the concepts were mostly solid. The ending was an absolute banger this season, though.

If I had to pick my favorite episodes from this season, I'd highlight Paprika, Hand's Hands, The Dawn Girl, and Taro-chan Returns Again.

Now to update my tier list template and fill up that C-tier with the rest of this season's episodes.

Taro chan deserves his own series.

Taro chan is ramping up his tactics. Funny that the friend was collecting cursed objects and yet it took him this long to be done in.

This season was rather dull for me with only a couple of good episodes. Such a shame too, since I thought the last two seasons were getting better.
