It's been a while since I last posted here on MyAnimeDesh...
I don't know if this applies to the rest of the world as it does here, but April is a special month for many reasons:
April is...
- Autism Acceptance Month.
- Stress Awareness Month.
- the month with National Public Health Week (April 7-13)
And I know that many of you are probably going through a lot as much as anyone else, perhaps even right now.
You may feel like you don't know who to tell, who to even trust for empathy, even from family.
Honestly... I feel the same way too.
Before I created this club, I had considered asking the MAL admin team to grant me Club Admin privileges for older clubs meant for fellow Bangladeshis; not many users really use the Club feature of the site, and I feel sad seeing so many abandoned clubs, so why not try to reduce, reuse, and recycle... except I thought it'd be cool to have a safe space for people like me, people like us.
A safe space beyond people like me really, bringing other South Asian ethnicities and diaspora despite the negative history behind our cultures... that's what I want MyAnimeDesh to be, a club beyond Bangladeshi pride, one that can help share awareness of the little known anime/manga characters that fit with our ethnic backgrounds too.
Because I want this club to be a safe space, I thought it'd be a good idea to make a mental health/vent thread.
I know that there is still stigma about mental health in the world, especially if you don't live outside of South Asia like is the case with myself. But I believe we can break that stigma and bring ourselves together from some pretty heavy and lonely times. Who cares about negativity others may think of us when we share some of our deepest insecurities or worries right now? Sometimes we just need to disconnect from the judgmental nature of society and let it all out.
Don't bottle your emotions if you feel you are overwhelmed and about to burst. We're here for you... I know I am.

Here, in MyAnimeDesh's Mental Health Acceptance/Vent/Advice Thread, you can:
- vent about something you are worried/angry/overthinking about, whatever's on your mind
- check up on your fellow club members who may be posting in distress here
- ask for advice on your situation
- ask for mental health resources and/or where one can find a mental health professional (psychiatrist, psychologist, psychotherapist, etc.)
- provide empathy by listening/reading through your fellow club members' posts
- post gratitude for the little things in your life
- post your minor accomplishments for the day
- simply post how you are feeling today, even if you are not sad/angry/anxious at the moment
Basically our equivalent to Casual Discussion's General Advice Thread.
Judgements, negativity, jumping to unhelpful/vague advice is not to be posted here. This is for those who need some honest help!
You may feel a little awkward or cringe, but you don't have to go through hardships alone.
