I guess some monsters in this show are smarter than they look, or clever even. Cursed monsters in this anime seems to have intelligence on humans.

Still up to Nube to lead everyone. His courage was on full display again and fought that monster like a champ.

Another classic episode! This one was SO fuckin' tense in the original, and I'm honest here, it's MORE tense here, even with me knowing the exact outcome from the original. :D

Genuinely, this is a really good readaptation, and I'm still extremely happy with it. The fact that they make a rewatch feel like a whole new experience rather than a retreading is nothing to scoff at. Another 10/10, more absolute cinema. This is a case where the readaptation is nearing the point of being BETTER than the original for me. :)

End was a little weaker than the original, though. But the buildup was absolutely better than the original.

I like how yokai was used for each student's character development. And Katsuya is my favorite boy.

"Isnt better to ask nube about that spirit?" "Theres no way i can tell him i got and spend the money" what a lazy way to create this episode plot tbh, absolutely no reason to not tell the sensei about the problem but yea it would have been way easier to solve this plot

This episode adapted chapters 7 and 8. Yeah, they're just adapting chapters randomly like the original version. And it changed/censored Katsuya actually deliberately stealing money to a coin just rolling towards him.

Hiroshi- this is a supernatural problem. Let's tell Nube.
Katsuya- no, I'd rather risk my life than admit to Nube that I fucked up.
SMH I wanted to slap that little punk so badly.

I like how they used Katsuya as the main character today, like Hiroshi in episode 1 and Miki in episode 4. I felt a bit disappointed that it doesn't feel as creepy as the original, since the recent episodes had a dark, serious twist. Katsuya was the rebel with a good heart in the original, while in this one, he's a mature kid who looks out for his little sister, Minami, who is adorable. The voice actor voicing the monster did a good job, but in my honest opinion, the original voice actor of the monster from 1996 sounded scary, and based on how he was designed. Though I did like they brought back Hiroshi and Kyoko bickering at the end of the episode. I also did loved that after Nube stopped the monster, he looks at his demon hand draining out from exhaustion from its' power he used, this could lead to a serious important solid storyline that we fans been wanting since Nube is the main/central character of the story and I'm hoping for more of that in the future episodes during the remake.

Last week we had a bad case of long neck syndrome, this time we got a bad case of sword demon wants you dead lol. It’s interesting to hear the way Katsuya got the money was changed, this way it paints him in a more innocent light rather than deliberately taking money from the shrine, so really Katsuya did nothing wrong here in the remake lol, but he did go wrong by not telling Nube that he potentially got a demon coming for his ass, I think it could have been written a bit better there but I understand that they need to keep Nube away from the situation somehow to make things more intense, like Katsuya probably shoulda died five different times while biking away from that thing lol.

And I quite liked the scene of the demon chasing them, nice and tense, the evening backdrop helped it have more of a spooky vibe too. And I thought the way they won was clever, using a mirror to trick the demon, they’re honestly lucky this guy was able to communicate to some extent because if he was just a mindless creature, talking him down into going after Katsuya wouldn’t have worked, but it did and it was satisfying seeing Nube take the bastard down. I also thought Katsuya’s little sister Manami was adorable, she didn’t do much but be scared here but she showed that Katsuya is a great brother.

That makes *a lot* more sense. I was confused as to why he was getting scolded by Nube for picking it up when he said he thought it was a gift from a god. i just assumed the yokai was stretching definitions to have prey.

@amentet To add more context, Katsuya stolen his money from the exact same shrine where the yokai's sword was placed. In other words, It's pretty much the scenario where the yokai wants to punish him for violation and wrong doing.

The whole tunnel sequence was sick but Katsuya hitting the Akira bike pose to dodge Wheel Kirby yokai really was the cherry on top.

I couldn't help but instinctively clench my fist when the thing's blade grinded against Nube's hand.

@wildhood I mean, he's not really a bad guy, the idea that he'd take the opportunity and do something for his sister feels more in line with a character like this. Plus him trying to be grateful in some way versus just taking stuff from an offering box makes him also seem far less greedy and excessive, versus something that I think isn't going to spiral into the fraud cycle that we see with people scamming money through corporate finances.

@MahiaErebeaNegi Making it that the yokai just wants to kill anyone it perceives as a thief would almost make for an interesting j-horror movie in that it's like a curse that passes to others, akin to Sadako in The Ring. Even if you gave the money to someone else, you'd probably still get killed, but then you've created a line depending on if the person you gave it to bought a gift for someone else, making them vicariously responsible by the vague "rules"

That makes way more sense. It was bugging me. Any rational person seeing a coin jump out of an offering box would think it was given to them. All they had to do if they wanted this direction was make a hole in the bottom with the coin sort of poking out half in half out then it is a little more morally ambiguous where it's stealing but also with so little effort and some mild ambiguity if it was or was not an offering it's not vastly different from picking it up off the ground so it doesn't make him look like some delinquent just desperate.

They should just tell Meisuke right away what happened, but ofc they won't and they had to almost get killed to get help from him, and even then, took he several tries to actually defeat the evil spirit.

I like shows like this tbh, really I don't find it annoying to see the same circle

I see a lot of hate that anime isn't a story anime more like just a random storys for students with spiritual powers a kind of change from the animes that always have a story line

3 / 5 OK it wasn't so good but still watchable and enjoyable fr

The case of the Hatamonba Ruins, amidst the usual fanfare of Nube trying to win Ritsuko's heart through supernatural things, Katsuya is the focus this episode where his encounter with the evil sword at its shrine being given money to be used to buy a crepe for his lil' sister Manami looks normal, but with the Shimenawa ropes cut off, the evil spirit only starts to torment him from within. Of course, this is not something that can be easily told to Nube, and both Hiroshi and Kyoko being best buds to help him out by returning the favour, that instead summons the Hatamonba yokai on a rounded knife tyre targeting Katsuya and his sister.

In the end, the kids still have to look to Nube to save them in school, and a trick to eliminate Hatamonba by the kids using the mirror as an illusion to secure the yokai in place sure worked, though Nube's Demon Hand sure suffered a bit.

One thing I've noticed of this "new" adaptation, is that it's more a retelling, but still based on the original classic manga, so the effect is still there. So far, so good.

Every brother is their little sisters hero. Katsuya got in trouble but he was brave. The yokai design was cool. What's happening to the demon arm though?
