Kinda funny chapter. She looks so stupid here. The other adults clearly know their place and know they have to be okay with it, it really just was that stuck up lonely bitch making stuff up and saying that to Waguri with no actual weight behind it.

I just don't vibe with this whole assembly of adults forcing a high school girl to lay bare her private and most intimate romantic feelings without her parents being called. Crazy creepy by everyone involved. Get a life, sincerely.

They’ll have to deal with Subaru and Madoka also being friends with the guys and not only that, they’ll vouch for Kaoruko telling the teachers and the principal how much she’s helped them academically and personally. I bet that the other girls will join Subaru and Madoka. Kaoruko was sincere and told them how much she loved them and how her parents approved of their relationship. Toki’s oy remaining argument will be the “slippery slope” one and it’ll be busted soon.

Unfortunately, the only way I can describe this chapter is "cringe."

The situation is so unrealistic that it has completely removed me from the story. No modern school would act like this, let alone be allowed to.

It’s made worse by the fact that this meeting between the heads of the school to decide Kaoruko's fate was held because she was spotted watching fireworks with some dude once.

In no world would it make sense for them to reprimand one of their top-performing students this close to exams/graduation for something like this.

The only positives here are the fact that she's standing her ground for their relationship, and that her friends are sticking up for her.

I love this manga but istg this arc feels like so unnecessary and unrealistic.
This isn't the 16th century no modern school teacher care that much about a students love life ong this was a bit corny and difficult to take it seriously.

@xBaldur_ Bro what are you smoking? This whole situation is this one teacher being psychotic, rest of the teachers probably just wanted to check up on her and see if she's ok, because she's THEIR TOP STUDENT.

Idk if you read it on tiktok or just ragebaiting, but stop capping pls

@AriiTensei Each teacher except the principal comments how their relationship reflects poorly on her and the school. Talking about "dramatic repercussions," how it is "truly disappointing," and how setting a precedent like this is a "slippery slope."

Obviously the homeroom teacher is insane, she clearly hates Chidori the most and her crashout isn't out of place, but the problem doesn't stop with her.

I'm not ragebaiting, so please just take a minute to think about the situation and the comments from the other teachers, then apply it to a real school.

The Kikyo/Chidori rivalry has decent foundations, but in my opinion the way this chapter was handled could have been better. It's essentially the end of school for both of them, so touching on it now just takes me away from the story.

I actually looked around a bit and it turns out that this situation in Japan is quite real. But only for private schools and only a top tier ones, basically they can expell a student if they do not like them dating someone innapropriate. And nothing can be done in that case because its private school and thus has the right to expell without being sued.

@BrotherCoa Interesting. No doubt some of the nuances of the story are lost in translation then. Pretty insane concept in the modern world but Japan does seem to have a few of those. Thanks for clarifying.

@xBaldur_ You are most welcome.

I was at lost too when I read about it, only then was I truly aware of Subaru's fear from the start of the story.

But then again, that is Japan and that means different culture.

There is one manga I also love, it's called 'daily life of 20 year old female doomer'. In that manga we follow 24 or 26 year old female who is so traumatized over her work that she became depressing shut-in. Why she was traumatized? Because her boss was so rough with her at one point he hit her in the head so hard that she was bleeding.

Like any normal person I asked 'why didn't she sue the company' to which I received an answer 'they don't do that in Japan'. I checked with others and discovered that is indeed the case becasue such is the work culture there.

Let that sink in and then re-think the entire scene with Waguri.

resolution can also mean a firm decision to not do something, and waguri’s resolution is that she will never break up with rintaro.

The problem is if Kikyo is meant to be a private school that meant to be, it would be serious about no dating rule, and beyond that they probably have a coherent rule that may ban students to eat outside and all other strange things as well

https://www.quora.com/Is-dating-not-allowed-in-Japanese-schools?top_ans=323409968

But now if the plot just want to go down with the route to blame that teacher… and that even the principal who should hold the dignity of the school, is just so kind to accept dating… this is just stupid drama…

Things were going along pretty much as I expected, until Subaru and Madoka burst in. If they "power of friendship" Kaoruko out of this mess(unless one of the girls has a rich daddy who's a big donor to the school), my respect for this manga is going to take a deep hit.

I'm still curious as to why Kaoruko's parents weren't called. She's still a minor, after all.

@BrotherCoa Genkai Dokushin Joshi (26) Gohan is a great manga! And I agree with your assessment; the school has every "right" to dismiss Kaoruko if she broke their rules.

Someone wrote on manga forums (and I agree with this assessment) is that the reason why parents are not present is because this was meant to be purely informational conversation.

After all, Toki called up for emergency meeting. And giving the student in question they wanted to have clear picture what is happening first. You can see that the principal is still smiling when they entered, showing 'you do not need to be afraid, just be honest' stance. And the other two are little more concerned but none of them are condemning.

After hearing her side of the story, you can see that all of them are still calm and collected. The other two teachers gave her a fair warnings but nothing indicated that they will actually enforce them. They simply warned her what that kind of relationship will lead to if the situation goes out of hand. I see that some people condemn them becasue of these 'threats' but they fair to see it from their point of view.

They do not know Rintaro as we do, and to be fair Chidori is a school that is taking 'underperforming low grade students and delinquents'. The gang even said to Subaru and Kaoruko that one time that they should not visit their school 'even outside their uniforms' because 'there are some guys who are really bad there'. The thought that one of these guys is in relationship with their top student is a call for concern, because if that bad guy does something that will dishonor him it will roll over to Waguri - and ultimately to Kikyo as well.

But even after that, they didn't tell her 'stop dating him' or 'we will sanction you'. They told her is she aware what will be the consequences if something goes wrong.

And her firm answer to them gave them the answer they were seeking in this 'interrogation', that Rintaro is actually kind and caring person that gave her courage and inspiration to be better. The principal and two teachers are satisfied becasue she is dating someone normal, even if he is from Chidori. And they were probably ready to let it go and end the meeting there when Toki dropped the bombshell on all of them.

But I honestly think that they will not stand by her as all three of them were shocked at her suggestion. Imagine expelling your best scholarship student over a relationship? One that is widely known and loved by other students, what kind of message will that send to the others?

With Subaru and Madoka entering the scene I think that Kikyo as a school will finally start moving in less restrictive direction. I would love if they even called Rintaro afterwards to come to Kikyo and speak with them in order to clear this forced image of Chidori students in their school.

I went over the chapter again: at the beginning, the head teacher is "disappointed", the Head of Academic Affairs warns of a "slippery slope" if she continues her relationship. Whether this is just them testing her on her resolve, I could see that. After Kaoruko gave her testimony, the three aside from Toki looked stressed(classic sweatdrop on their faces). Don't know if it was because of what Kaoruko said, or they knew what Toki was going to say. I do agree they were shocked when Toki suggested Kaoruko leave the school, so I'm not sure what would happen if Subaru and Madoka didn't interrupt.

"Informational conversation", that's an interesting way to put it. Not one of them cared who Rintaro was, they just wanted confirmation that she was still dating him, and if she was going to continue to do so.

My view of the three admins are a bit harsher than BrotherCoa's, who gives them a softer, more understanding tint. Toki was the one who rounded them up in the first place, and I can see the probability they didn't want to be there, but they have to do their duty "for the sake of the school".

In almost every real instance, Madoka and Subaru at best would have been instantly kicked out of the office, or at worst, given a chance to condemn themselves, and kicked out of school, too. The high probability that their testimony next chapter will sway the admins in Kaoruko's favor gives her plot armor that gives the manga a Disneyesque vibe, and not in a good way.

wow that final panel was corny. this manga is so 50/50 for me. half the time its super cute and meaningful but they just pull disney channel confrontations out of nowhere. i dont even know why theyre here considering that the rest of the school faculty clearly supported waguri and wouldve shut down whatever this homeroom teacher had to say. just unnecessary drama
