| Episode 1 This season there will be not one but two fantasy shows about eating monster with this and Campfire Cooking in Another World. This time, the one eating the monsters is none other than a noble lady nicknamed the Voracious Villainess, Melphiera. It's unbefitting for a noble lady, but Mel loves the taste of monster meat and won't mind getting her dress dirty to do so. And then there's Galbraith, who Mel meets after he slays a backhorn monster for Mel to indulge on, and from there they start a romantic relationship. Pretty amusing start here as these two out to be an interesting, odd couple, all while Mel's appetite is really something. |

| This one is a little weird, guess we'll be getting some more background eventually, like why is this noble girl eating something everyone thinks is poisonous. I would guess it has something to do with her mother. How does her step mother think she can send her to a convent when her dad doesn't seem amenable to that |
| So a man who likes to hunt monsters for the challenge and a girl who likes to cook monster meat. Both looked on as weird by polite society, brought together by their mutual hobbies. Pretty simple set up but looks like it will be a fun ride |
| It needs more magic. Or better humor. It's almost there, but I have a hard time relating to a character who is obsessed with exotic meats. I'll consider giving it a couple more episodes to win me over. |
| Episode 2 And just like that, Melphiera and Aristide are a couple, tied together with their taste buds. Ari was so excited to hunt down a giant golden goat that he had to come over to see her, especially since winter starts sooner where she lives. And he made quite the entrance there on a dragon, and that giant goat is valued for its fur while its meat gets tossed away. Of course, it's something that Melphy would love to devour herself. But there's one catch in that the goat they brought over is still alive. Quite an odd couple they have become, but they certainly have one thing they can count on. |
So on the same day we have shows about a monster who wants to eat a girl, and a girl who wants to eat monsters. If only we could get these two together. |

| Episode 3 Now with a moodle in hand, Ari has his guys cut its fur off, and then the Duke cuts off its head to allow Melphie remove the magic energy to make it edible using a spell she learned from her mother and refined through research, though for an animal like this it required two flasks rather than the usual one. After that, they make skewers out of the moodle's meat with the Duke providing the seasonings he swiped from the chef's kitchen. And these skewers are a big hit with the soldiers as they were barbecued to perfection. After that, Melphie takes the Duke to her room that's a giant laboratory, and then she explains her family's history. She acquired her love for monster meat from her mother, who resorted to eating that because she had to live through a famine, and her research was a life-saver, and Melphie's homeland frowns upon eating monster meat, which has her becoming an outsider even though she's a noble. That's all about to change now that she's entering into a romantic relationship with somebody who's just as crude, at least by this land's standards. That was some backstory there that I hope to learn some more about as that's how Melphie got to be so resourceful. |

| Episode 4 And with that, Melphie has left her homeland to become a noble of Galbraith. Seeing that she's determined to continue her mother's research on monsterology that she will have that opportunity being married to Ari. She left behind quite a lot there as her stepmother Celia is quite critical of her birth mother Elise, while her stepbrother Louis will ascend to the throne someday, but Melphie doesn't care about what she's leaving behind. And then having copied all her mother's research material, she burns what remains of it as she leaves. This goes to show that Melphie is determined to make sure that she can carry on her late mother's research, something that she can do in Galbraith, and not so much in Marchalrayd. |

He spread the nasty rumors, and then wondered why she couldn't get married, so he was going to bundle her off to a convent. That plus the nasty woman he married makes me question how much he was actually protecting her.

| Episode 5 Melphie and Ari are on their way to Galbraith, but before that they take a quick stop for the night where they find a place to stay at Fort Ritterd. Seeing that Melphie would rather stay in a place that looks like her research facility that she spends the night in a humble room in the fort. And there, she has some moodle meat for everybody to enjoy. Then at the campfire, Melphie and Ari decide to call each other by name. Then Melphie recalls how her mother died as Elise was poisoned by monster meat as while she had the tolerance for eating the stuff, she hadn't figured out how to eat it safely without being poisoned by its toxins. Good to see those two getting close as this was all about understanding each other and supporting Melphie for what she wants to do with this relationship and with monster meat. |
| Episode 6 This time, Melphie is cooking up some seafood as they caught a big one from the river, a gigantic fish called a zanas. Just like with the moodle, a lot of preparation is needed as first it needs to be slain and beheaded. Then Melphie draws out the blood, while the retainers gut out its organs. It was a lot of work, but they did it. And then Melphie makes fried fish out of the zanas, and once again it's a hit with everybody. So after cooking some mutton, and now some fresh seafood from the deep fryer, it's off to Galbraith where Melphie is going to be living from hereon out. |
| Episode 7 Aristide's background is explained just as Melphie and the gang approach Galbraith. Aristide is the second prince and the country is in a famine due to an extreme drought with the previous duke dying from starvation. A succession battle was about to break out, but Aristide agreed to give Maxim the throne, while Aristide becomes the duke instead as he wants to do whatever he can to keep the kingdom fed in light of this drought. It turns out that Aristide wields a dangerous power in his eyes which he couldn't control as a kid, but has better control of it today. So after all that, they arrive in the woods just outside Galbraith, but they get attacked by a flock of man-eating birds who normally don't go after groups, and Aristide uses his eyes to accelerate, but they are about to crash on the ground. It's no wonder why Aristide was so attracted to Melphie as they hope that her research on eating monsters will save the country that is short on food. |

| Episode 8 With a flock of aggressive and deadly birds in pursuit, Melphie uses her resourcefulness to create a magic bomb using the fish's blood she extracted with the Cloudy Quartz. And that thing packs quite a punch there as it's no wonder that it could be used as a tool for war. It's a good thing Aristide knew what he needed to do and to clear the area before throwing that bomb turn that flock into roasted chicken. So after transversing the borderline, Melphie and company finally makes it to Galbraith and the town for which he is the duke of. That took a lot out of Melphie as she wonders if what she's researching is taboo or not, but that's a question for another day. |
| Episode 9 Melphie didn't exactly make the impression she wanted, but she's being treated in high regard, especially by the three ladies in charge of being her personal protectors in Blanche, Natalie, and Lilian. It turns out that Blanche does have a family, and Melphie understands how great lady knights are seeing that she's using skills that knights are known for to cut up monster meat. And speaking of which, these knights love to eat monster meat. And then there's Lillian, who became a knight at age 15 that makes her an adult two years early. Those ladies sure are committed to their job, and they get along quite well with Melphie seeing that their interests align. |
| Episode 10 And now, Aristide explains things to Mullan about what he is up to, all while is trying to make sense of the spell that Melphie just cast to defeat the flock. And then Chaos comes in not wanting to be left in the dark. Chaos brings together three chambermaids to serve noble ladies with Mullan's sister among them. After Aristide explains what he observed from Melphie's magical blood extraction, and that he's going to support Melphie's research seeing that her knowledge about monster meat would be highly beneficial for Galbraith. Then Chaos reacts to the fact that he's being left out in all this. After that, Melphie decides to get some fruits from screamwood, all while she's given her own research room. Sometime later after searching, she finds the screamwood fruit, which smells bad, but tastes sweet when properly extracted. Not much happens here as it's mostly talk while Melphie is about to prepare some fruit that needs the proper preparations. |
| Episode 11 After some help from the lady knights, the screamwood fruit has been opened, and with the seed having so much magical energy that Melphie does her thing to extract the energy, and they get a sweet reward from it. Then Melphie gets a new pet, a sirius dog who is just a cute little puppy for now, but will grow up to be a majestic beast. After that, it's a lot of talk, but among the things that catches Melphie's fancy is Blanche's husband Galeo, who is a master blacksmith and is somebody she wants to meet wanting a knife that can be used for butchering meat. And after that, Melphie is set to make her debut. One more episode left as she will make everything official once her debut happens. |
| Episode 12 (Finale) To finish things off, Melphie has her debut. While Melphie feels overwhelmed, she's being welcomed with open arms as she's treated to the town's specialty cuisine. And then during the banquet Melphie meets Galeo, who presents some kylstil snake wine for Melphie to drink to test her to see if she's worthy of his services. While these snakes are quite poisonous, it is tasty when properly prepared, and Melphie absolutely loves the taste. But it turns out that Galeo was supposed to be on a delivery job that he walked out on and needs to be carried away by his wife. So now that Melphie is officially welcomed into Galbraith, she and Aristide go out on their first adventure as they go into the woods to find some delicious monsters to hunt down and research. That was a nice place to stop there seeing that Melphie had been through quite a lot to get to where she is right now. Final Thoughts While this is another fantasy show with a gimmick, it was one that was utilized quite well. The show came in with a focus on monster meat and crafted a nice story out of it, all while doing a nice job with making the show fun and engaging. That said, this show suffers from subpar production values, the story writing that can get muddled at times, and the pacing that feels dragged out. But in the grand scheme of things this show came out with a purpose and stuck to it to the end, all while doing a nice job building up the characters and the romantic relationship using edible monster meat as the driving force even if it's far from perfect in doing so. Grade: B- (7/10) |
| Despite the subject matter of the show...I found it rather bland. Just a run of the mill fantasy style romance story, and the monster thing wasn't all that intriguing. 6/10 |
| A solid 7 for me. Wasn't crazy about all the time spent on cooking, but there was nothing bad either. |
