Plot Summary

Being a girl of both spirit and human blood, eight-year-old Ellen has power over the elements—though not the traditional four-element kind. She has the power to transform her surroundings by manipulating the elements of the periodic table. On top of that, Ellen also has a great amount of scientific knowledge due to being a scientist in her past life.

During the war against a neighboring kingdom, Rovel Vankreift, the hero of the Kingdom of Tenbahl and eldest son of house Vankreift—as well as Ellen's father—was fatally injured. However, the spirit who fought by Rovel's side, Lady Origin, brought him to her realm to save him from the clutches of death. Lady Origin, who happens to be the Queen of the Spirit Realm as well as Ellen's eventual mother, is one of the most powerful spirits in existence, making little Ellen quite powerful in contrast to her innocent looks.

But even a family as happy as this one has its fair share of problems, as Ellen and her parents are forced to reconnect their old ties to the Vankreift household in order to defend their relatives' honor—all while hiding Ellen's dangerous existence from the public to preserve their undisturbed happiness.

So far, there is really no reason for this to be an isekai. Ellen could just be an alchemist prodigy. The show is goofier than I expected, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'll need to see some more before making up my mind. Three-episode rule is in effect.

Episode 1

And here is another show with a MC who was isekaied (and in this case, reincarnated) with a cheat skill, and Ellen's is the ability to control the elements. And by elements, that's of the periodic table variety and not earth, wind, fire, and water. She shows off that skill by making diamonds with her skill. Her parents are Rovel, a hero, and Ori, a spirit, and as such she's half-human and half-spirit, which makes her a pariah of sorts in this society. Rovel was supposed to have died in the last battle, but Ori saved his life and they became husband and wife. And speaking of wife, Rovel was in an arranged marriage with Agiel, but seeing just hoe much of a bitch she is that it was definitely the worst thing to happen to him. The three have been living a quiet life, but Rovel has been called back to his family's estate, and he has quite a tall task ahead seeing that Ellen's existence is a threat. While I wasn't expecting much out of this show, Ellen is a great girl there, all while this oddball family ought to make things interesting enough to be worthwhile to say the least.

Honestly probably a good thing. I don't think this premise would be that good if it was too serious

@RMikami Yeah, that was completely unnecessary. God forbid the author has to actually write a back story for her character instead of hand waving it away as an isekai.

Also, the second princess looks like she stumbled in from a completely different show.

The Reincarnation aspect kind of depends on how important scientific knowledge is going to be. Material Creation magic combined with advanced mineralogy, chemistry, physics, etc... could be pretty horrifying. Depending on what degrees she has, she could have enough knowledge to make a nuke.

Episode 2

Agiel is just a horrible person all-around as she married Sauvel and drugged him into becoming a father, all while she spent lavishly for herself in violation of the marriage contract, while Sauvel doesn't remember doing anything to become a father. Agiel wants to divorce him to marry Rovel, and Rovel takes advantage of the situation to expose Agiel for the hag she is, which worked like a charm. It turns out she's the king's daughter, and the prince Ravisel is bad news as he's up to something and needs Rovel in order to put his scheme into motion. Lots of bad blood going around here as the royal family is corrupt, while the prince has emerged as the big bad of this show, all while the Vankreift family is caught up in this mess. At least Agiel won't be an obstacle any longer as she can't get close to men ever again, but the prince is another matter entirely and Ellen knows that he's a dangerous man.

Episode 3

With Agiel out of the picture, Rovel shows his parents Ori and Ellen and want them to keep these ladies a secret seeing that if the public knew about his family things would get ugly. After Ellen is introduced to her grandparents, she is left in their care. And while Ellen is asleep, her uncle Alberto delivers a letter coming from Ravisel and learns about their curse that prevents them from contracting spirits and their plan to use Ellen to undo it. Ellen ends up burning the letter without reading it as this was an act of defiance and to convince Alberto to cut ties with the royal family. So with that, the Vankreift family has declared war on the royal family as they know what they are after, and Ellen knows full well that Ravisel plans to take advantage of her and she won't let that happen.

So the prince is after the reason the royal family can't contract with spirits? That doesn't seem like it would be privileged information since the spirit queen says the royal family forgot what they did.

Couldn't they just tell him? -.-

@runec It's Not just the Prince. The Entire Royal family has been in the Spirit's bod books for generations due to past behaviour. The Prince is just a perfect example of the sort of behaviour that caused the problem in the first place. Plus the fact that he calls it a Mystery shows they haven't a clue what they did.

The fact that the prince is trying to find out through all these schemes and arm twisting shows that he's not the kind of person who could actually repair the rift between the spirits and his family. Telling him the reason would just result in him trying to fix the problem with more scheming and arm twisting. Which would only make more trouble for everyone. I don't think there's much point in telling them until a king comes along with the right attitude and temperament.

Episode 4

While Sauvel doesn't have Agiel to worry about, that means there's no legitimate heir to the throne as Ellen is the only current legitimate child, and she's in-line to succeed the spirit world rather than the kingdom. And while a divorce normally requires a three-year wait before getting re-married, Agiel is an unusual case, and not to mention they need a succession plan in place before Ravisel takes the throne as once that happens, he can will his way and force whoever he wants to marry him to produce a successor. So Sauvel gets engaged to Aria, who is also divorced and in custody of her child Rafilia. The two get married after getting to know each other, but Ravisel won't let that happen. So Ellen steps in with a diamond shower as a distraction, all while Ellen finds somebody she's apparently going to fall for. Lots of plotting and scheming going on as marriage is quite the tricky business.

Episode 5

Last time, Sauvel and Aria were about to get married, but Aria was prevented from singing the contract having been condemned by the goddess Var. That's because Aria swore a false oath to the gods as she was thinking about somebody else, more specifically Rovel, when she made that oath. While Ori is at least able to hide the curse mark from others, she still sees it and is affected by it until she loves Sauvel with all her heart. And then Ellen learns about the royal family curse from Vint. So Ellen decides to talk things out with Aria and pretty much she tells Aria that while she still believes in her unlike with Agiel, Aria needs to drop all feelings for Rovel and love Sauvel with all her heart. This goes to show just how bad it is to cheat, and in this world it has severe consequences seeing that the Vankreift family would have fallen into ruins many times over had it not been for Ellen.

The spirits seem to be a bunch of pricks.

"How dare the people who were born 200 years after whatever pissed us off not know what pissed us off."

Rovel was treating Aria like shit from the moment they met maybe that's why she was thinking about him and trying to please him...

Either that, or this story is just very poorly written...I think it's probably the latter.

Part of it could be the perspectives of Immortals vs. short lived mortals.
Kind of like how Dwarves and Elves hold long Grudges.

Episode 6

So it turns out the royal family is cursed after the king from a long time ago did something he shouldn't have and getting on the bad side of the spirits. Even though Agiel is out of the family, her impact is still being felt as she's living in a remote place where she will never be seen again. And that meeting between Ellen and the princes Rasel and Gadiel is quite a dramatic one as Ellen nearly lost it. So it's no wonder why Ravisel is who he is as he inherited his ancestor's grudge against the spirits.

Ok So the King and his sons now have a first hand taste of why the Spirits hate them. So they now they know.

From the Spirit side of things they apparently only cursed the original king responsible, but after that king died the ghosts of the murdered spirits continue to cling to the royal family out of bitterness and resentment.
Less a Curse and more "You are haunted by the screaming ghosts of my friends and family and I just Don't want to be anywhere near that"

So here is our core plot. Ellen is looking to find a way to free the ghosts of their resentment, while the King's oldest son is thinking of how his family can atone.

Episode 7

Ellen pays a visit to her uncle Sauvel to do a favor, which is to head over to a mining town to discuss the closure of the place, where she meets her grandmother Isabella. While the mines used to be well known for its silver, there's also quite a good amount of quartz there as well. But the problem is that the miners believe the mines are cursed thinking that they angered the spirits there for mining too much silver. But Ellen sees that it's a lung disease and is something she can make medicine for. So she makes it and overexerts herself in doing so. This goes to show that all it takes is scientific knowledge to know that this so-called curse can be dealt with.

WTF is wrong with all the adults in this show?

"How dare you talk that way to a complete stranger who seems to be trespassing on our estate, he's the prince, despite the fact that I refuse to tell you royalty is visiting."

For being "Spirit Royalty" the mom and dad don't seem to know jack shit about what a "spirit curse" is.

Why does her cousin look like a teenager after 3 years, but Ellen and the 2 princes look exactly the same?

Episode 8

Ellen overexerts herself in making the medicine, but she just needed a little bit of rest and she's back on her feet again, all while her medicine brings everybody back to their feet. And it turns out that this marriage between Sauvel and Aria has been quite difficult on their daughter Rafilia as she's none too pleased about all the overly strict education to become a proper lady she's undergoing. All of this is causing Aria to break as she threw water at her maid out of frustration. But Isabella is level-headed and is willing to talk things out. And while that's going on, Ellen is hard at work tending to all the miners there, while Ori decides she needs to help out. Rafilia is in her rebellious phase there seeing that she's not used to all things nobility.

Ooof, so that relationship has not gotten better. Uncle needs to step up or he's looking at 2 failed marriages.

When Ori started using words Rovel didn't know and then said she'd been studying, got me wondering if Ori knows that Ellen is a reincarnate. Would make sense if she did, seeing how her sisters are the Gods of the world.

The whole family sucks...Rovel acts like an ass towards his Aria from the word go, Sauvel's just been ignoring his wife and daughter to worship his niece, Ori seems to have no idea what the spirits actually do despite being their queen. Apparently the entire household treat Rafalia and Aria like pariahs, no one seems to communicate anything, then get butt hurt when people have no idea what's going on.

Ellen has made a name for herself when it comes to medicine, and Hume is desperate to help her sickly mother that he's talking to Ravisel about it. While Ellen is helping others out, it has become a concern seeing that if things continue her life will be in danger seeing that she's overexerting herself in doing so. In the meantime, she meets her cousin Kai, and her pet tiger Van takes on a human form to meet him. And then Ellen visits her grandfather and learns that Rafilia has run away from home. Thanks to Van being able to listen to voices from far away that he figures out that Rafilia was kidnapped by somebody working under Ravisel who is apparently trying to get Ellen, but by mistake they took Rafilia instead. While Ellen is doing something noble, all of the sudden it has put her at great risk.

Not that she acts 35

honestly that's always a a weird thing with these reincarnated shows.

The Child in question for whatever series, gets to have the knowledge of an adult from earth
but their behaviour is 90% that of a child, and then mature the other 10% of the time when they need to be taken seriously

most of these shows try for a "have your cake and eat it too" situation.

I've only seen one show that kind of addressed it, the main character could feel he was hampered by the child's emotional mentality and that as he got older it slowly caught up to the reincarnated soul. Basically he felt out of synch emotionally and mentally until he got closer to the age when he died

With Rafilia kidnapped, Sauvel assembles a team of knights to go looking for her, and they were pretty easy to find once that letter came out. So they go and Sauvel makes quick work of the leader of the bandits as going up against the Vankreift family is usually a bad idea. Most of the episode was spent with planning, and once Ori joined the rescue team, it was over for the bandits and Rafilia is safe and sound.

This episode is nothing but talk as they discuss what Ravisel has in mind, and that Rafilia's kidnapping was part of some grander scheme where the main purpose was to take advantage of the situation more than anything. The King seems to think he's playing the long game, that if he can get Ellen and his son to keep interacting they can build a bond that can be exploited down the road.

Except that time is a very different thing to something that is Eternal. Your "Long Game" is five minutes to them.

Living memory vs. something so many generations ago that they forgot the reason why.

The only way this show could pull out of a nosedive is if there's some third party that caused the issue and there was (magically) enough foreshadowing to make that feel believable.

How was having Rafilia kidnapped at all beneficial to the king?

Then Ellen's "you're part of the royal family, so as a spirit I'll continue to hate you"...then in the next breath "why are you apologizing for something you had no responsibility for"

@HOOfan_1 I think the king suspected that Ellen was making the medicine and was trying to expose/confirm that. He could have just openly sent someone to ask if they could share their medicine with the rest of the kingdom. Doing things out in the open would let all the other nobles know that they had medicine and would put a lot of pressure on them to share it with everyone else. He must have been more interested in getting information about Ellen though. He probably thinks she could somehow have the potential of lifting the curse on the royal family so he's focused on her more than anything else.

I don't think she has anything personal against the prince. She wants to stay away from him though because the of king. With the way his father exploited the connection between he and Rafilia she wants to keep as much distance between them as possible.

Episode 12 (Finale)

With everything that has happened, Ravisel makes his move to restrict entry to the country, and cut them off from the medicine they need. As such, the people are standing up against Ravisel, and while it's tough for Ellen to see, Ori insists that it's needed. And in the end, Ellen leverages the epidemic that had been going on to build up the Vankreift domain using her medicinal and chemical knowledge to make their domain an attractive place to live with help from the spirits she has befriended. And just like that, the capital is falling into ruin to show that Ravisel is unfit to run a kingdom, while the Vankreifts are showing the right way to do things. So with that, this show comes to an end.

Final Thoughts

While this show has some great things going for it like interesting characters, solid animation, and decent character development, ultimately this is another generic isekai show that doesn't do anything to stand out. It was enjoyable enough for what it brings to the table. However, it suffers from heavy cliche usage, convoluted storytelling, and uneven plot progression that makes it a mediocre show in the end. But at least it was enjoyable for what it is in spite of all that.
