Not really plot hole more like a major consistency error.

This is for the LNs readers mostly cause maybe its mentioned there, but why is Latifa still kid when shes meets Rio? they should actually be about the same age physically anyways (not mentally clearly)

I'm at the end of the season now but near the end of the second last episode Latifa says "I'm not a kid anymore" and she would be 100% correct at that point they both been the world for about 15 years they both where sent back in the body of a 6-8 year olds both would be about 20-22 year olds by now her being that age would be her mental age too cause she was sent into the body of someone who was almost the same age as her before dying Whereas Rio would be about 35 years old (mentally) but both should psychically be about the same age

so why does the anime treat her like she's still 12? is there something in the LN that explains this or did the writer just forget about the ages and what they should be?

Anime has deviated from the LN.
Rio is overpowered in the anime but in the LN…. he gets injured regularly~

I don’t remember what happened in the anime.

In the LN, Latifa before death is an elementary school girl named Endo Suzune. I don’t remember her age, is it 11?

Latifa only received her memories after being enslaved, and hence suffered from trauma.

I don’t remember the details very clearly.

I haven't really read the LN. But per my understanding, they did not get reincarnated in the same time line. Even though they died in the same accident.
1 thing that supports this theory is, Miharu and gang disappeared from Earth before Haruto was reincarnated, but they got into that world, many years after Haruto became Rio.
Similarly, Latifa might not be the same age as Rio, she might have got Suzune's memories many years after Rio's. Also, even if physically she would've been older, mentally she was still a young girl with PTSD from the bus accident,to top it up with the abuse she recieved from the nobles.

Then again, like the Newest person here said, Anime is way different from LN. So they might have changed the stories here and there.

They were reincarnated in different times. She is 9 at her debut in the light novel while Rio was like 12? in the same scene.

Also it’s not a plot hole, it’s…. it’s actually plot. I believe it will be quite relevant.

@aWolf1

so she;'s only been in that world for a few years then? like thats what i had thought it would be but it was never actually mentioned so no clue if that was actual cannon or not.

but then you say she was 9 and him 12 at the same time... so they are roughly the same age?

EDIT: ya i think the writer just forgot about time skips and their ages at this point

I'm on season 2 episode 2 and he says he's only 16 which is complete bull we know he's been in that would for 15+ years cause he mentioned it himself and this all started when he was like 8 at the start of the anime. even if we cut out the time skips at the elf village and his home village he spend 10 years in school alone making him 18 at least..

I think you are missing Rio's characterization....
Rio and Haruto are not the same personality but instead 2 different personalities conflicted in the same body. Something like a Dissociative Identity Disorder (but not exactly DID). So he has the memories of Haruto and those thoughts sometimes conflict with Rio's own thoughts.... I think thats how we can put it bluntly....

The original plot is to have in his "Harem" a girl younger then him, having the general imagine of big brother (Rio) and little sister (Latifa), protecting the little sister, support her etc.
In first season, in one of episodes (i forget which), Latifa say that she saw Rio before being isekai in bus. She wanted a big brother like him, when she saw him in bus, this being her mind in that moment.
In LN doesn't say more then this (a general idea)
In conclusion, the author wanted one of the girls from his "Harem" to be the little sister type.

@V1P3R0P

i got that but the comment he made was something "i got Haruto memories 15 years ago" then in later scene says to the teacher when he explains having both memories that he's only 16 years old, which is just impossible giving the time line even if Haruto didn't exist it would still be impossible, he started school when he was 8, spent ten years there then another 5 years wandering

the only way he can be 16 is if he started school when he was 1.

If I remember the LN accurately there is a 5 years gap between the moment Rio leaves the academy and the moment season 2 starts so by the end of season 1 Rio is around 18.

For the age thing that's explained in the LN but long story short they all die at the same time but are not reincarnated at the same time or the same age.

EDIT : That's a 3 years gap. Rio is 16yo.
