No. This isnt like serbian film nor salo at all, FAR from it. Fire Punch has a story it wants to tell, with emphasis on the emptiness of it and has entertainment within that, if shock was the only point or main point of it then the manga would be a brief oneshot (and not a shocking one at that). The gore is average (unless you think blood and limps severed on action violent seinen manga or just action movies is so, so shocking by default) and the guy that is into dogs just appear on one chapter and there isnt even a depiction of it, just known that the guy is like that. The incest makes the sister/brother relation less cliché but meh, not really enough to make it so shocking. Serbian film and saló actually have blatant desire to shock (serbian film, for example, has a "newborn porn" scene) though they end up boring as hell to watch (unintentionally funny even), they are movies with just shock as the core objetive.
So no, fp isnt like those movies and it is a baffling comparison. If you want to have a meltdown, go read shintaro kago which actually is like that... and will not even be fair to complain about shintaro neither, since guro is a genre (that explores both in story and art if it intends so) and if one doesnt like why even bother? Not that guro is a problem neither, just that fire punch doesnt even come close to being like any of these movies. I dont see HOW you can fully read fire punch, watch these two movies and think "yep, same thing".
What is next? Berserk is just like cannibal holocaust? Not even Shigurui, which is more violent and gorier than fire punch is like a serbian film and saló, not even gantz (which altough has more violence than fire punch, it still cant be compared to those movies). Absurd claim, nonsensical, i cant comprehend how one would even agree with that statement regardless of if they like fire punch or not |
