While the main series just finished, the prequel series just began and by the time this season end, it will be about halfway through the Vigilantes series.

Episode 1

It's off to Osaka where Koichi ends up having to use his Quirk to catch the train he was late arriving, and they ask Fat Gum for directions. Pop is singing at an idol event where there's a drug smuggling operation going on. There they meet the crab girl Kaniko, who is an idol and an undercover cop who is also on the job to snuff out the drug trafficking ring. And there's Eraser Head taking down more villains who have taken Trigger. From the look of things the drug was secretly inserted into a batch of boxed lunches and the culprit is easily identifiable by a scar. That was a nice way to get back into the swing of things as it's mostly setup here, all while Kaniko has quite the crabby personality that ought to make things interesting.

Koichi and Pop Step head to a mall in Osaka for a music event, but it seems there's a drug deal going down there at the same time. One of the other idols at the show, Monika Kaniyashiki, is actually an undercover cop who's part of the team set up to bust the drug deal. While Eraser Head takes down some drug users to get some information about a more dangerous shipment of Trigger, Monika leaves the show to get ready for the bust, leaving Pop Step to take her place in the event.

We're off to a good start. I like this spinoff so much better than MHA. I almost forget that it's shounen sometimes.

It was quite a so-so return for me-- not bad, but nothing too exciting neither. They did went straight into an angle so, that's good enough.
But overall, we're pretty much just waiting for Koichi and Pop to be involved in a situation again so they can do Vigilante stuff-- likely when they get involved with the undercover mission, and maybe they'll cross paths with Knuckleduster again.

The new crab character does seem fun, and I'm glad to see that Fat Gum seems like he's gonna be showcased in this series. Eraserhead and Midnight's also already around so, that's some things I look forward too. Here's hoping the story picks up real quick-- hope it gets to the Knuckleduster and Trigger parts by the 3rd episode at the latest.

Episode 2

Kaniko finds out that the culprit is transporting the drug through the ice packs inside a box of seafood being shipped, and engages in battle with the villain, who has the power of lightning speed where he can move at the speed of light that makes everybody else around him appear slow, doing that so make it appear somebody was shooting at the policemen when in fact he fired their own guns against them. And they also take control of the crab walkers, one of them has a bomb planted in them that Pop is strapped into. Thanks to Fat Gum, the bomb didn't do as much damage as it could have as he absorbed the shock. So with that, the case in Osaka has been resolved and it's back to Naruhata.

Monika manages to find drugs being disguised as coolant packs, but a guy with a scar on his face swipes her gun and takes control of the machines being used to load the shipments, with the operators still in them. Fatgum and Monika free the operators, but the guy with the scar sets the machines to explode in order to destroy the drugs mixed in with the cargo. The guy with the scar can move really fast and tries to get away. Naomasa shoots him in the legs and he's restrained, but the guy with the scar manages to break free and shoot everyone with their own guns.

Meanwhile, when the machines were hijacked, the one Pop Step is in goes haywire just like the others. Koichi tries to release her from the machine but can't, and Fatgum throws Monika to slice the machine's legs. But the machine is set to explode as well, so Fatgum absorbs the blast. The guy with the scar is still at large, and Koichi and Pop Step leave before Naomasa can question them about what happened.

Episode 3

Here's All Might back in his prime as he made a trip to Okinawa to defeat some overgrown things, and was helping Naomasa out with an investigation, though he worries that he is acting too recklessly as the Symbol of Peace, something that would lead to his downfall at the start of the original series. He gives Makoto a gift of crab from Osaka. In the meantime, Naomasa is investigating the person with the acceleration Quirk, No. 6, as he continues to try and figure out how the Trigger drug is getting around and is looking to put a stop to its distribution. And in the meantime, Koichi continues to train back at his apartment, though breaking windows in doing so isn't exactly a smart thing to do. Pretty much, this is transition into the next arc as the investigations continue into the drug trafficking going on.

Naomasa and Makoto don't seem to get along in matters regarding police work, particularly because Naomasa is concerned that his sister might pry into something she shouldn't. While investigating the man with the scar, the Quirk he used brings up a hero named O'Clock, who hasn't been active in recent years. Naomasa believes the man with the scar might be a relative or disciple of O'Clock. Meanwhile, Koichi has learned how to repel things with one hand, but when he breaks a window showing it off to Pop Step, she nixes the idea of using it very often.

This show has been so low in my priority list that I ended up watching the 3rd episode thinking it was the 2nd one. xD Good thing there was a flashback or I would've missed it out entirely.

I liked Fat Gum being in the 2nd episode. The villain being all playful psycho is getting corny-- Knuckleduster's daughter already did that.

The 3rd episode was- in the words of Eraser Head- "silly"; It was fun: Kamayan's modification struggle, the fragrance, and the Tsukauchi siblings shenanigans. I like that Naomasa is getting a lot of character-stuff and being used really well in this season.

Glad that the main villain is finally active now. But, the show is still lacking in the protags' side: Koichi and Pop's moments are cute and fun but, they're barely the reason I watch the show, which is probably also why I tend to forget about this show.

Episode 4

Koichi practices using his Quirk as a weapon, but is stopped by Pop reminding him that he could get arrested if he's caught by a hero using it as a non-hero. He goes around patrolling while Pop is studying, and ends up running into the villain Octoid, who is pure muscle and has eight arms. He comes across Eraser Head and the Hotta brothers, but Eraser Head's Quirk is not really useful against him seeing that it's muscle and not a Quirk that he's dealing with. They lure Octoid into a trap while Koichi uses his shooter, but it's not strong enough to keep him contained, and Octoid escapes, only for him to be dealt with by O'Clock. Next day, Koichi and Pop run into Eraser Head on the street, but Eraser Head claims he doesn't know him. Koichi sure is trying to be helpful when the need arises even though he's a vigilante, but there are some enemies he can't defeat on his own like Octoid.

While Koichi is out on patrol, he encounters a multi-armed villain. As he lures the villain away from civilians, he runs into Eraser Head and the Hotta brothers who he was interrogating a few episodes back. They all end up working together to lure the villain into a warehouse, and he's caught in a net. However, the villain breaks free and runs off, only to come across the man with the scar, who knocks him down before taking a blood sample. When the multi-armed villain grazes the man's face with a rock, though, he goes ballistic, only stopping and leaving when he hears Koichi and the others approaching. This man with the scar really wants to have only the one scar on his face.

Things are really so low stakes for the show. Pretty sure they're building up something but, it's really been so-so so far.
I'd appreciate an update of Knucklduster now.

Episode 5

The instant villain incidents traced to mixers that Koichi, Pop, and Midnight are being asked to attend one undercover as Naomasa and Eraser Head investigate. At this event, Hina is the one responsible as she spiked the drinks with the drug, but Midnight was there to put a stop to it. The investigation reveals that the these attendees experienced only momentary effects as a way to scout out those who would be fit to become instant villains, while the drug that was seized is traced to O'Clock, but he got away before they could investigate him. Meanwhile in Hong Kong, Knuckle Duster goes to an apothecary to get some clues about Trigger and he gets a customer list from them. There, he goes by the name of Hyper Quadfist there, who is supposed to be dead. After getting some questions, he makes a quick visit to see Tamao in the hospital and reports his findings to the detective Eizo. So this is largely transition to the next big incident. Next time Eraser Head's background is explained.

Koichi is invited to a mixer, but evidently drugs are being passed on at similar parties. So Midnight asks Pop Step to help at the same mixer and keep an eye on two girls. One of the girls, Hina, is jealous that her friend Rin is getting flirty with Koichi, so she spikes all the guys' drinks. But Midnight manages to put the guys to sleep before things get out of hand. It turns out the drug Hina used is a less potent version of Trigger that might be used for the drug dealers to scout certain people to modify into full-fledged villains, and once again, the man with the scar comes up as a person of interest.

Meanwhile, Knuckleduster comes back to Japan after getting some intel on drug distribution from an apothecary in Hong Kong. After visiting his daughter in the hospital, he gives his findings to a detective, who alerts him about the man with the scar.

Knuckledusteeeeer!!! He's baaaaack!!! Finally! Things are gonna get interesting again.
Not sure if I understood correctly but, I guess he did have a quirk before? I guess there's more to his backstory than just a dad and husband whose ordinary happy family got ruined by evil people-- I assume that he's a hero-gone-rogue, did some regretful stuff, and may have crossed some very dangerous people along the way. Maybe what happened to Tamao wasn't random but intended, to hurt him. That would explain why he still seems so hellbent in taking down the drug villains.

The mixer thing was quite fun. Koichi was being a full on lame dude then suddenly pulled a rizz moment xD Pop being bothered that Koichi also considered her disguised self as one of the scary/weird women was also funny. This is the most I enjoyed their romance stuff, so far.

@Galaxy-Crisis I see. I guess it's only a matter of episodes before Knuckleduster leads the show again xD Thanks for the info ^_^

Episode 6

Here is an episode focused on Eraser Head as he and Koichi save a stray cat from a villain who was about to eat it. Eraser Head was in this position before and he left the cat behind and giving it his umbrella, but Oboro would end up taking it. He was one of thee guys along with Oboro and Mic who doesn't have a work-study set up and while he has the grades, he was lacking in self-confidence and doesn't know what his Quirk would be good for. The three were talking about their work study, and they run into Midnight, whose was practically naked in her original hero costume before being forced to change it to something more decent. Midnight would end up taking those three for their work-study program in the end. Pretty interesting way to look at Eraser Head seeing how much of a role he plays in the main series and why he is so deadpan.

Eraser Head helps Koichi save a young girl and a stray cat, and his talk about responsibilities to Koichi gets him thinking about his own school life. As a student, he didn't have much confidence in what to do with his Quirk approaching the work study period of the curriculum, and his two friends Yamada (Present Mic) and Shirakumo (whose body would be used as the base for Kurogiri in the main series) also hadn't had things set up yet for other reasons. While Yamada was in the process of selecting a work study program, Kayama (Midnight) offered Aizawa and Shirakumo the opportunity to join her in her mentor's work study program.

Bleah. For me, this was pointless filler. It adds nothing to the plot. I do not care about Eraserhead's backstory.

Episode 7

Aizawa's story continues as he shows that he's just doing what he is told, but still had no vision of his future. His work study begins training under His Purple Highness, and he's tasked with dealing with a smoke villain, and things didn't go well the first encounter. After talking about it together, they come back and apprehend that villain together thanks to the goggles Loud Cloud gave him. But fellow work-study hero Sensoji raises a fuss about them stealing their idea of using eyewear to fight back, and that causes him to take on Eraser Head and Loud Cloud alone, while refusing to work with Present Mic, and that doesn't go well for him. After that, Eraser Head, Loud Cloud, Present Mic, and Midnight all decide to open up their new agency. However, His Purple Highness would engage with a powerful villain and goes down. Aizawa sure had some twists and turns in his hero-study program there, but he's about to be tested in a big way.

Aizawa and Shirakumo worked with Kayama and her mentor, His Purple Highness, but their first encounter with a thief that could create smoke that irritated the eyes didn't go well. Shirakumo suggested that Aizawa wear his goggles to protect his eyes from the smoke, and the two of them took down the thief together the next time they met. One of their classmates, Sensoji, thought they were stealing his thunder after he decided to wear sunglasses, but trying to take both of them on by himself resulted in him losing. Later, Shirakumo suggested that he, Aizawa, and Yamada open up their own hero agency once they graduate. But things would take a more foreboding turn one week later, when His Purple Highness went down fighting a really large villain.

(2 episodes focusing on Aizawa's past, and the next one will be as well; Is this even still Vigilantes?)

Either way, I quite like this Aizawa backstory. We learn that he was one heck of an Emo as a teenager, Shirakumo had a Sun Wukong vibe prior to his bartender get up, Yamada is very loud since day one, and that they had (Not) Prince as their mentor.
But most importantly... GAAAWD ALMIGHTY!!! MIDNIGHT!!! YEEEZZZ!!!

That being said, I'm greatly disappointed with how the Vigilantes are becoming a blatant afterthought. It's clear more than ever that this series is just a huge excuse to keep milking the MHA IP; Sad.
