| Full disclosure that this question comes with the background context and knowledge only of having already watched the first episode, in which it very much seems like a classic isekai situation, so much so that they could be accused of running through a checklist, but they're also being very vague and evasive over any details pertaining to it. A few statements made by the main character, at least in the translated version in subtitles, could be taken a little ambiguously or are deserving of, begging even, for further elaboration. MAL doesn't have it tagged as such, but with the present system as it stands, I've long since given up on the MAL genre and theme (even demographic, but that less so) tags being either consistent or a reliable indicator or arbiter of anything. And I generally like to keep a running tab as a mental note and list in some files of how many, if any, isekai I end up watching per season and year, so always want to know which qualify. I've not yet decided whether or not I'm going to continue with this series and whether it qualifies as genuine isekai or not is not a determining factor for anything in that regard but just a point of curiosity. But I appreciate knowing where I stand with these things. It also seemed plausible from the monologues/dialogue that the main character could have been isekai'd but that his origin point could have been not our Earth and our universe but an entirely separate existence (a "fantasy world" closer to the current main setting where he's presently at, basically). |

| as you yourself stated... he comes from somewhere kinda-sorta like this place... so he is from an epic/high-fantasy type world and has come into a new epic/high-fantasy type world. you're obviously aware this is an isekai show because you watched the first ep. so, this thread is basically fishing for folks who have read the source and can confirm your hypothesis. next time, just openly ask for source-reader input. |
