What do you think abt the Kill Bill homage and music choice in EP4?

Maki killing all of zenin clan and why she was doing it was extremely tragic and sad, so paying homage to a certain movie in between that doesnt really help to elevate the narrative but kind take away the seriousness from the scene imo.
Also the funky, old western type of music that plays in between 15:45 to 18:25 while killing the kokoru unit was really bizarre, I think no music with just sound of slashes or a serious music would have been a better choice.

Dont get me wrong I really liked the Ep and I still do but these are things I noticed after my post hype clarity.

Also the japanese actually HATE the EP for the given reasons.

idc about the music, I dislike the killbill homage, there's no tension killing fodders, it just it took a decent amount of time from the actual zenins and the narrative, it's so cringe honestly

imo the episode was awesome, but the music really sometimes sucked a lot, which took away the necessary vibes from the fight scenes.

I think the Kill Bill homage is fine, wasn’t the biggest fan of the music tho, I don’t think it was bad but it wasn’t very fitting imo.

the music was kind of weird in the kill bill scene, I think having no music would have been better but thats just me. i really liked the music used for the naoya fight and the fight with the hei, maki freeing herself from ranta's technique was also done really well with jinchi slowly walking up only to get beheaded seconds later... definitely the best scene in this season so far for me

When I read the manga the Kill Bill reference was obvious, so it's a perfect adaptation

Nah, you're deluding yourselves if you think Beatrix Kiddo's mission for wrathful vengeance doesn't align with what Maki did here. The energy of the music matched the action in a way a Cowboy Bebop scene would've and even matched the absolutely cartoonish clowning ending of dude getting stuffed in the middle of trying to call her an imposter. I get that you read a weighty scene with gravitas, but this wasn't John wick's struggling with the limits of a normal human body while doing super human things to avenge his dog in the memory of his dead wife. it wasn't Al that emotional. This wasn't heartfelt, cause Mai "took that with her." This was a superhuman casually cleaning up a mess that they'd had to endure for too long, and doing it with aplomb.

Kill Bill was appropriate and the music matched.

Music was horrendous ngl. I didn't pay attention that much to other aspects but just after Mai death doing that kind of music is disrespectful.

I don't agree with all the japanese critiscm and I still think it's the best thing JJK have done so far and won't in future but the music choice is bad bad.

The music definitely did not fit the vibe of this episode at all, but at the same time better music would not have made a huge difference either I think.
