The season had its ups and downs, but the finale managed to stick the landing in my opinion. They really nailed the chemistry between Toshio and Hitomi throughout the entire episode. I assume that with the end credit scene they plan on making more seasons, which would need to be the case if they plan on telling the whole story.

The story showed its age, and at times the plot had more holes than Swiss cheese, but all in all, it was entertaining, and I wouldn't mind a second season. Ado's vocals on the OP and ED were a plus. 7/10

I want more! This is just an appetizer from the full course meal, it's a delicious appetizer though. Some people might think that this story doesn't age well, but the fact that even the most famous museum like Louvre get heist just last year means that Cat's Eye still hold some merit. It's still possible to steal an artwork in modern days.

But the best thing is how feminist it is. Female protagonist saves male protagonist so many times throughout the story. It's almost always the other way around in other anime.

I'm gonna need at least two more cours, next time with no break in-between, please!

I didn't watch the original but it feels like the story aged badly. Maybe making it modern wasn’t a good idea. I also think female character designs are ugly.

Can’t say I hated it, but I mostly didn’t like it. 4/10. Original is probably a lot better.

Everything played conveniently yet again but a bit drama which was resolved quickly as well. Got confirmation that the father is alive as well.

This was pretty much what I was expecting from a series like this. Didnt get anything more or less. The strong point was definitely the quick, short but interesting arcs. There were a lot of convenience going on but still a fine watch. Gonna complete the manga after the new edition is done.

Also already said this before but OP/ED were both great.

It was OK. They took the characters from 80s and put them in a modern setting without changing anything which is the glaring reason why it was inconsistent and full of plot holes. I expected improvement with setting and story but there was none even though there are examples like Magic Kaito adaptations and Detective Conan which updated themselves better to accomodate to modern times. The way it ended hinted at a second season, maybe it can happen.

One thing they nailed was getting Ado to sing OP and ED. You can not go wrong with her.

Yes, the adaptation probably has its drawbacks, but you know what, I gave it the highest rating anyway, because I came to the conclusion long ago that it is impossible to make a perfect screen adaptation, especially when you only have 12 episodes. Did they modernize the adaptation? Yes and no. because the technology is all new, but the authors decided to go down the path of a work of art and simply wrote omissions into the dialogues, such as the masks, which seem to be there, but to the viewer, they are like helmets and are not shown in the games. In general, think of it as night and darkness, in which visibility is not as clear as in animes and movies. The Kisugi sisters are good, each with their own strengths. Rui, Hitomi, and Ai are memorable, especially the first one. The The romance between the detective and the thief, who is torn between her job and her personal life, is palpable and well done.о and the action is not bad. I hope there will be a sequel, because one season for such a number of volumes is not fair.

Kaibara pulled another cruel move using Toshio as leverage the way he did. Rui did well quickly disguising her voice and putting the Cranaff Syndicate leader to bed!

Toshio ended up getting injured in this one too. All the more time for him to think about how much he loves his girlfriend Hitomi. It's great that he's so unwilling to believe she could be the thief he's after, these one on one crisis chats tend to be on the sentimental side for the couple.

Just when Toshio couldn't doubt the truth any longer, we got quite the clever Alibi set up by the sisters. Impressive tech as always from Ai, and great old man impersonation by Mouse.

I enjoyed this remake. The cops and robber antics were quite refreshing, and I think they did an excellent job modernizing things in the episodes.
That was an interesting cliffhanger with Rui getting confirmation on her dad being alive. I for one do hope this show gets a season two!

I was really excited for the story of Cat’s Eye initially! But very quickly I started dragging my feet to get through the season because Cat’s Eye is just missing something for me.

I know Toshio and Hitomi have been together for years because they say it/tell us continuously, but I don’t see it between their interactions and in the writing. I don’t feel like I have as much stake in the story as I should at this point! I also understand because this was just a 12 episode season with so much going on in the anime, but I wish there were 2 cours with 8-12 episodes each to help establish Cat’s Eye, the sisters outside of Cats Eye (Ai’s school and friends, whatever Rui does because I still don’t know, and Hitomi outside of Toshio), Toshio and the police officers, and Toshio and Hitomi’s relationship. There are a lot of moments this episode between Hitomi and Toshio that fell flat for me, but if the proper development was done I feel like those moments would have actually tugged at my heartstrings.

The main storyline that will probably keep me watching season 2 is when Toshio inevitably finds out that Hitomi and her sisters are Cat’s Eye. I’m just interested to see how Toshio takes Hitomi’s gaslighting. She’s lied to him before but this level of lying was unlike anything else; I can’t imagine the outcome will be something Hitomi wants😬.

Loved the first half of this remake, not so much the 2nd half, I don't remember the manga or the original but I do feel like they skipped a lot, then again, not much really goes on in an episodic series like this one from what I remember, the remakers did what they could but if they were gonna modernize the setting, they should've done it properly and I wish they went for 24 episodes, tho.

It's funny how Toshio nearly cheated on Hitomi with Cat's Eye, tho.

This series is just a different vibe. Anime is a lot different when it isn't relying on boring tropes and constant fanservice. This felt like a nice mix of Charlie's Angels in anime form.(I know this came first.). I hope we get more. I will start reading the manga though.
I had to change this because some loser couldn't make an actual argument. So....yeah I hope you guys like the new sig.

Liked this remake, but how on earth would Utsumi not recognise Hitomi's voice when he was blindfolded and then stuck in a container alone with her, lol. This was how to bring an old classic up to date. They've taken notes from Lupin. 7/10

Anyone else think Toshi should dump Hitomi and ask out Asatani, she's much hotter and less annoying. Iirc from the original, Toshio and Hitomi haven't even kissed yet. Asantani wouldn't blueball him like that. Ofc Rui is best girl, but he can't ask her out, haha.

Enjoyed this series. Anotehr decent remake.

Great show and hopefully there will be a second season.

It's a shame the industry can't do adult female art/character designs and casts like this anymore. In that light, I'll certainly take any continuation for this.

Kinda mixed feelings about both this episode and the series as a whole. I do quite like the retro vibe, and how it isn't taking itself all to serious. But at times they take that a bit too far. the suspension of disbelief is off the charts. I mean, we had one episode where Toshio and Hitomi together with Toshio conveniently blind, but they made a big point of it to let Hitomi not say a word. Now they all three are together.....and Toshio still doesn't recognize any of their voices? Nor the voice of Masato with his pretty distinct accent?

And overall it too often was more about the police and everyone else being completely incompetent than our Cats being particularly smart. That gets old kinda quickly with just 12 episodes, I can't imagine how the original series lasted 73....

Still, if there's gonna be a second season, I'll be watching.
