| Welcome to the Best 2025 Anime Character Tournament, where we will decide the best character from the past year. The nomination phase begins now and will last until Saturday, February 7, at 10:00 p.m. EST. Here are the basic rules for this tournament: 1. Eligible series must have begun and/or ended in 2025, and must have a maximum confirmed episode length of 104 episodes for series that began in January, 91 episodes for series that began in April, 78 episodes for series that began in July, and 65 episodes for series that began in October. Series with discontinuous seasons or split cours are allowed, but only the episodes that aired in the past year will be taken into consideration. Also, OVA's are allowed if more than one episode aired in 2025, but stand-alone movies are not. 2. Eligible characters must have appeared in at least two episodes that aired in 2025. Again, characters from series with discontinuous seasons or split cours are allowed, but only if said characters appeared in episodes that aired in the past year. 3. You can nominate characters from as many series as you wish. A single person can only nominate a particular character once. Nominations should be put in the following format: Character name, Anime title Please separate your nominations by gender, as there will be a men's and a women's bracket; the two brackets will be running concurrently. Multiple nominations for the same character from different people are encouraged, as they will be taken into account for the seeding process. Any ties after the nomination process ends will be broken by random draw. 4. A single person can nominate a maximum of four male and four female characters from the same series. Also, a maximum of four characters from a single series will be allowed into a single bracket. If after the nomination process ends there are more than four male or four female characters from a single series nominated, the top four of each gender after resolving ties will be given priority, and all others will be excluded from the final seeding process. The 32 characters from each gender with the most nominations will be selected for the tournament. 5. The single-elimination tournament will play out like the Anime/Manga Character Face-Off, with a few tweaks. Here, the character who reaches ten points first, or the highest score after 24 hours, wins and advances to the next round. If after 24 hours there is a tie, the character who reached the tying point first wins. You may only vote once per match. You must post your vote, as well as the current score after taking your vote into account. 6. After the semifinals of each bracket, there will be a third-place match between the two losers of the semifinals before the finals. The final match is first to fifteen points within 24 hours. Here is the tentative schedule for the main tournament: February 8 - February 11: First round (8 matches a day alternating between men's and women's brackets) February 12 - February 13: Second round (Men's bracket matches on Thursday, women's bracket matches on Friday) February 14: Quarterfinals (Matches in both brackets running concurrently) February 15: Semifinals February 16: Third-place matches February 17: Finals |

| For purposes of this tournament, Ranma Saotome will be classified as male, even though he can change between genders. Because they are not stand-alone films, characters from the Demon Slayer movie, Infinity Castle Part 1, and the Chainsaw Man movie will be allowed. In a similar case, characters from the Lycoris Recoil short OVA series will also be allowed. For season 3 of the crossover series Isekai Quartet, I will allow a maximum of four nominations, one from each of the major series represented except for The Rising of the Shield Hero, since season 4 of that series also aired this past year; and Re: Zero, because the second half of season 3 aired this past year. As such, any characters from Shield Hero and Re: Zero will count towards those respective series, not Isekai Quartet. Finally, I'd like to pose a question for next year's tournament. Since One Piece's broadcast schedule is shifting to 26 episodes max per year beginning this April, should characters from that series be allowed from next year on, despite it being a long-running show? |

| Thank you @Galaxy-Crisis for organizing & overseeing this. Tsukasa was definitely my pick to win the Men’s Title. Kinda disappointed Morihito missed the podium. Nemu on the Women’s side was a bit of a surprise, but I’m fine with it. Might seem a little strange that a supporting character beat out MCs, but she’s such an adorable sweetheart & the insight we were given into her family life is sad, but glad that she & Keigo seem to have found each other. Nico is sweet too but can be a bit “much” at times 😂. I am surprised that Fiona made it as far, but in addition to her role in the season’s final arc, I also enjoyed the earlier ep focusing on her & Franky.  |
