How far did the Anime go into the novel series?

Well I doubt you'll read this post, but not far at all if I recall maybe book 5 .And there are like 25 of them and they are fairly lengthy. But really.you should start from book 1 if your going to read it, they changed so much in the anime adaption that it's really not understandable to kick off from.where they left off
