Shouldn't this count as two shows, rather than one? I prefer it as one, and I consider it one, but I mean, wasn't the second season called The Big O II? Every other show that makes that distinction gets split up.

Also known as Monster in a box, but I hate that handle...and it doesn't fit here.

You're right, and I've been wondering the same thing. I don't think they'll ever change it though, so... :/

It's just season 2, so I think they just decided to lump it together. For me it's better, less confusing.

But just about every other 'season 2' gets its own entry; new name or not (and in this case, it does have a new name).

Once again, I do like it better this way, but at the same time the inconsistency is bugging me a little.

Same here; also wasn't there a gap of a number of years between when each season was started and finished?
I seem to remember thinking there was a gap of a few years (though I can't remember how many)- I was confused until I saw this post saying they were both considered one, I kept looking for the other season and it was driving me crazy.
It's easier to just add one, as you said.
However the inconsistency is also annoying me a lot.
If there wasn't a gap of a few years between them (and as I said I remember hearing there was) I wouldn't really care.....

Yes. Season 1 ran in Japan in 1999. This first season ended with a big cliffhanger, but the show was dropped at that point because it wasn't very successful with the Japanese audience.

Cartoon Network eventually licensed the show for their Adult Swim anime block, and the show was a surprise hit with American anime fans... who wanted more! It was so successful on Adult Swim that Cartoon Network helped to finance the production of Season 2 (Big O II) which aired in Japan in 2003. Cartoon Network is credited as a co-producer of the second season, along with Sunrise and Bandai Visual.

this thread is old as fuck but yep, as richfam sates, this show should be split into 2 seasons of 13 episodes each (The Big O and The Big O II).
