What did you guys think of the movie? The acting, songs, arrrangements, covers, story etc.

I just saw it less than a week ago and is definetly one of my favourite movies.

I liked Max's voice the best and found it funny how they didn't use "Maxwell Silverhammer" and other characters' songs ^_^.

I was kind of disapointed that "A Day In The Life" was only like a minute long.

Also: I thought Lucy's actress looked familiar and later found out that Evan Rachel Wood was in Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" music video.
And it has the same themes with going to war and stuff even though the song is about the lead singer father's death.

pasting my response from the comments, some more added...

meh... It was alright. I think some of the singers need some work. Honestly, I think most of the singers' voices were not good, especially for the songs they were singing. Some of the songs were alright though. It had its moments... As a whole story, the times covered are very interesting. I thought the way they carried through the different movements was very well done. Made for a very dense movie, showing the complexity of the times. I liked that.

My favorite song was Come Together. The guy who sang that did a really good job. Didn't much care for Evan Rachel Wood's thin vocals though. I loved the movie overall, it was fantabulous XD

Best song was I am the Walrus by Bono. Lucy looked so plain and loathed the actress that played her. I mean everything was good except for lucy.

I don't know where the pimp came from (or the black kid) but he did okay, with his whores of course. I didn't really like Bobo so much, and Lucy did have kind of crappy vocals as well.

The visuals were very satifying too. LCD made this movie.

Sadie was kinda hit 'n miss. She certainly wasn't "Sexy" though.

Yeah the Helter Skelter was good. That's because you're black.

Eh, I kind of feel the same way as Arestyr. The singing could have been better. Also, I wasn't too crazy with how literally a bunch of the lyrics were portrayed. And, in general, the movie felt kind of contrived.

I enjoyed the movie, but I thought it was not worthy of a Beatle's soundtrack. I felt the storyline was dictated by the songs, rather than the songs being a reflection of what is happening in the movie, or even what The Beatles sang for. I think the director/writers were adhering to the the songs lyrics more literally than they should have and I don't think it does the music justice.
I did enjoy many of the numbers on the soundtrack, although I must agree that, although I love Evan Rachael Wood, I thought her songs were pretty weak.

In terms of how the lyrics were applied in this movie, I definitely agree with you, Magnetic. (For that matter, prior to seeing Across the Universe, one of my friends had told me that I probably wouldn't like the movie because of literally the lyrics were taken.) I thought that some of the interpretations of the lyrics were wonky, too.
