THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This episode felt a bit Gundam-ish, probably due to the first ship battle in this series, aside from the first episode (which doesn't even count for much as a battle).
Things are getting pretty serious between the two sides. I'm expecting a full scale war pretty soon.

Chirico's finally back in action and his plan to kill Ypsilon was pretty cool. AND it would've worked if Fyana didn't hesitate at the last moment. But she's been pretty awesome lately, so I forgive her.

Oh, and although Chirico's miraculous recover wasn't explained, Fyana did mention that his recovery speed was not human. AND Ypsilon took his medical file, so there's gotta be something there. If they are implying that Chirico too is a PS, I'll call for bull crap. The prequel series "Pailsen Files" calls Chirico an abnormal survivor, which was again reinforced in "The Last Red Shoulder", the OVA between the Uoodo and Kummen arcs. Besides, I don't think Chirico has been bathing in weird light with Fyana.

And another interesting thing: it wasn't said clearly, but it was implied that the Red Shoulders were responsible for that destruction in Sunsa. Someone's really wanting to dust out some skeletons. And Chirico being the last Red Shoulder (as implied in the OVA before the Kummen arc), all responsibility falls on him. I'm expecting someone will recognize him at some point and a lot of angst will ensue.

I'll pretend I didn't read some of those since I haven't watched those yet. >_<

So we finally got a name for the planet, Sunsa looks like a desert planet because of the war. They're still wearing suits outside when they were repairing the thruster nozzles so I assume there's no breathable atmosphere down there? Now this has become quite the crowd it might turn out to be battle royal after all. Chirico and Fyana against Secret Society against Balarant against the other mysterious faction at the end which maybe or may not be hostile towards our two protagonists.
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

The "Pailsen Files" series can (and probably should) be skipped for now, but you might want to watch "The Last Red Shoulder". It happens right after episode 12 and before episode 13, in the small gap before the escape from Uoodo and the entrance in Kummen. It's pretty critical to the plot too, since it covers Chirico's past in the Red Shoulders to an extent and how/why he was sent on that mission in episode 1. It's actually strange that it was made an OVA and was not in the series itself, since it could be inserted perfectly between the aforementioned episodes.

Perhaps Chirico isn't entirely human, if he recovered that fast. I have a feeling we'll soon find out.

It appears that Chirico and Fyana are about to be greeted by the inhabitants of that planet, and if they discover that he's a Red Shoulder, it's not going to be good.

I quite enjoyed watching the secret society AT suits get obliterated by thruster systems. Badass!

The crashed ship made for a really interesting setting this episode. That scene with Chirico swinging from the bungee cord was a really clever way of revealing it was the planet Sunsa we've been seeing in his flashbacks
