Ok, I think we need to cover this. Here's the problem; You wish to join a fanclub of a certain anime. Only to find there are many fanclubs of this anime, each of them being poorly maintained and with few members. What should you do? For most MAL users, I'd recommend #2, but this Poll is aimed at experienced members who know how to create and maintain a good club.

1. Request Or Petition Adminship Of Original Club
2. Attempt To Improve Original Club Using Standard Member Privileges
3. Make A New Club That Will Hopefully Be Better The Original Club

This reflects a current problem I have. After locating the original fanclub club. I find that it is in a severe state of decay. Many flaw such as lack of anime relations and inability to find the club using search. Because of it's lack of moderation and the current admin is rarely online, the best course of action is to ask the creator for Adminship. But considering fact that the creator is almost never online, I may never get a reply and I may be denied Adminship. What I'm thinking of doing is to request Adminship, and if denied, I will then be forced to make another club. If the "Anti-Duplicate Club Petition" works, hopefully the old dead club will dissolve into the new and maintained one. Any thoughts?

This sort of scenario is one that has been brought up several times as well. Perhaps if duplicate clubs were to be deleted, inactive original clubs would be deleted in favor of a more active duplicate, or have the clubs merged.

As for this particular problem I recommend doing both one and two. If the administration is so inactive that they do not respond to your messages in request number one, then number two is the best course of action. Your efforts to improve the club in option two could cause a increase in membership and renew the activity of the club itself.

Choice three only goes against what this club is created to oppose, and is one of the reasons duplicate clubs exist. This is understandable to a certain degree but it often is carried out to the point where multiple duplicates which may or may not be aware of the existence of each other exist. There is also the chance that this new club will meet the same fate as its predecessor, only to pose the same problem for another member.

Thanks for the advice, I have sent a PM to the creator requesting adminship. Although, if denied, I will try to improve it the hard way(using member privileges and requesting each administrative action).

[EDIT]
Done, I'm the Admin of the club now. After I fix it up I'll start messaging the admins and users of duplicate clubs telling them there is already a club for this anime. Then providing a link to this petition for more info.
