Why is the status finished when it clearly seems ongoing?
I've just finished reading the 1st chapter and it left me with the impression of "to be continued"
the 54 pages it ended too abruptly, leaving me curious for the sequel of the action.

Hope the author didn't suddenly have an accident or so, leaving this manga never to be continued ;_;

No, the manga doesn't finish with the first chapter. If you look at the "manga information", you'll see it says it has 1 volume not 1 chapter.
