| I think she's a good character for me to be able to relate to. For starters, she's a bit of an otaku as well (I can't believe they made a reference to POKEMON in this show. XD), and she has an unrequited love for someone who loves another girl long after the relationship came to an end, which is extremely unfortunate because that has happened to me as well... She felt like she had to try and compete with Menma for Jinta's affection as well as better her looks since she once had short curly hair and glasses (...Like I do now, which I hate myself for, too...). She hangs out with popular girls/mean sluts at school in order to try and be noticed (...Again, similar to me) before she meets with her childhood friends again. Anaru just wants to be noticed is what I can see. I can practically see myself through Anaru, that's what I love about her character. |
