Did Sesshomaru Love Kagura?

It's obvious that Kagura loved Sesshomaru, but did Sesshomaru love Kagura? Their relationship was an interesting one from the day they met and while Kagura's feelings were always obvious to me Sesshomaru is a little harder to figure out. For those of you who didn't read on in the manga after the anime ended, this question may be hard for you to answer. When Kagura dies in the manga, Sesshomaru comes to be with her because he smells her blood and waits there with her until she dies. She dies with a smile on her face, believing that he really did care about her all along. After that Sesshomaru goes out of his way to avenge her death but never confirms with words or thoughts that he actually loved her. I personally think he cared for her a great deal more than he thought he could or wanted to. He loved her as much as a cold person like him could. So I guess my answer is, yes. He did love her. What does everyone else think?

I don't think Sesshoumaru-sama loved Kagura. He feels affection for Rhin, but I dnt think he could feel somethin' more for Kagura.
Nontheless, I'm gonna read the manga b/c I've just finished the anime and I could have a better portrait of the story!
You think you know, but you have no idea!

I think he really did care about her. It was the first time he used Tenseiga without having to be asked, and he did get pretty angry over Moryoumaru's taunting. Totosai says that "something new had come into his heart"-which indirectly indicates that it wasn't there for Rin. He also saves Kagura when she falls into the river, when he could have just left her and took off with Rin and Jaken.

I'll requote a few manga words.

"I knew it was you." That's about as close to an admission he gets, and doesn't say anything like that to anyone else.

"If that's the case, why sacrifice your sword?" Sesshomaru doesn't respond to this in the way we would expect. He doesn't say that the sword was useless anyway, or that it was worth it to kill something. Instead, he has a flashback.

"I think she's secretly in love with Sesshoumaru-sama!" Rin is fairly perceptive, and why waste the ink on drawing this picture?

Also note in the opening credits that there is a picture of Kagura with Sesshoumaru-similar to those of Kagome with InuYasha.

i think kagura is deeply in love with sesshomaru, however i think that the great-but-not-as-great-as-miroku sesshomaru loves kagura. but beacause he is so.... cold and the way he is, he probaly finds it hard to deal with any emotion of love except the fatherly one he feels over rin.
i also think that he'll never confess. to him that a sign of weakness. (jerk). but i think if sessho had done all of his goals, he may think of the awesome-and-really-cool-villain kagura.

XD
Only time will tell if my obssession will rot my brain.

i completely agree with windwitchkagura on this. why put a shot of that if there is nothing going on?

I think he cared for her in some way, even if he didn't fully accept those feelings. He even saves her in the river, and is sort of disappointed he can't use Tenseiga to save her life when Naraku kills her... I guess that's as close to love as you get with Sesshoumaru.

Honestly, that ticked me off so much. Why couldn't he save her!? Makes absolutely no sense. Jakin was cut in half and rem was mauled by wolves, yet, their bodies were saved. -_- damn author of Inuyasha. They just wanted a sad death.

I wanted for Kagura to live too but it would probably have complicated things. About why it could not save her I can explain. Tenseiga's power is limited:
1. it cannot bring someone from death if it has been previously resurrected
2. it does not seem it can bring someone back if it died for more than a couple of days
3. it cannot grow missing body parts. This means if you are missing an important body part you will die shortly after you have been resurrected. For proof look at Goshinki.

#3 is the reason. Her body was damaged too much. Prelonging her life for a short time would have been too painful and will have served no purpose. She had closure and was happy.

It is obvious he cared a great deal for Kagura towards the end of her life . I am not sure that can be called love although it most likely would have developped into love if Kagura lived. Sesshomaru is an introvert and with small exceptions does not show his feelings. He does not know to express emotions as his mother was most likeli pretty cold to him also as can be seen from the two episodes in which he meats her.

The author of Inuyasha, Miss Rumiko Takahashi stated that " Kagura's love for Sesshoumaru was unrequited "(reference the Yashahime gallery) " Kagura's death scene was way too overplayed", "Sesshoumaru only 'appeared' to be angry about her death because of the classic shonen plot/vibe is easier to pull of with Sesshoumaru "
