Note: The "Death Note Philosophy" topic comes from comments started by DaKeDo. Since there were too much comments about this topic, I decided to move it into an official thread, so if you have anything else to answer, please do, this is the point in making this topic!

ok every1 talk and know the DEATH NOTE rules thing?

theres one rule forgoten which ryuk told : the one that uses death note goes nor heaven nor hell.

so where the hell is that? shinigami world? any comments about that? mabye it was mentioned somewhere? manga? movie? the novel?

p.s. please share the "DEATH NOTE Another Note Los Angeles BB" novel please if u got it. (e-book mabye?)

so any thoughts bout it? how about we discuss it a lilttle?

In the anime, one of the rules that appear in the middle of each episode says that ALL humans, when they die, go in a place called MU (Nothingness) and in the manga, Light says that he doesn't believe in heaven or hell (when Ryuk tells him that Death Note users cannot go in heaven or hell), and Ryuk says that it's true that heaven and hell do not exist.

so it kinda shows that there is no after life?

i mean some people think that theres hell and heaven... bible stuff

lots of crap lol so it should mean that on death note theres no afterlife?

at first i thought that after death (when i saw the ep. they were talkin about it) yagami would go to shinigami world and become shinigami mabye? ^_^ this keeps bothering me :)

Basically, when you die, you cant go anywhere else cause you ARE DEAD! So, nothing such as afterlife. There is only one life, that is why you must it to its fullest.

well we reached a nice discusion about afterlife... if there is no souls as kyo say then how would u explain reincarnation phenomena? mabye its not heaven and hell but afterlife is there ^^ there are devices that can even register the electromagnetical fields which are believed to be souls ^^ i think body is like a vessel limit our capabilities :P fck the body run naked and free! :D

One that uses the Death Note can go neither to Heaven or Hell, but it is stated in the anime and manga that ALL humans when they die go to Mu, or Nothingness. I don't think that refers to an actual place in an afterlife, but rather the concept that most people have trouble truely understanding, which is a state of non-existence.

In the manga, Ryuk tells Light that "One that uses the Death Note can go neither to Heaven or Hell". But later it's made clear (in my opinion) that that was just a way to say that Heaven and Hell didn't exist. (hence no relation with the Death Note besides an eye-opener)

I consider the doujin that depicted an alternative end to DN (that is, Light going to Shinigami world to take on the Shinigami King) was nothing if not some kind of sick joke to kind of "reassure" fans about their favorite character not fading into nothingness. It's kind of like "Your cute lil' puppy dog didn't die, he went to doggy heaven to chase ethereal bones with Granny" kind of shit. Makes me goddamn sick :/

Just finish mourning Light once and for all! xD
