Why do people call this series "Onegai Sensei"?

Fairly often in online communications and IRL conversations, I hear this series referred to as "Onegai Sensei." Personally, I think the English title "Please Teacher" is just fine, since onegai = please is a very common translation. But setting the first word aside, the second part of the title is clearly ティチャー/ Tichaa / Teacher, not "Sensei." I don't want to sling the "weeaboo" label around, but this seems like pointless linguistic overcorrection. Yet I never see people calling the followup series "Onegai Futago(-tachi)", aside from when I do so in jest.

Shall we also start doing the same with other shows with English titles? Like Gonzo's Spring 2003 airship series, Saigo no Tsuhousha, or the early 00s Madhouse/Broccoli game adaptation, Gingateki na Tenshi?

Well Zalis, accorind to wikipedia, Sensei is a good term

Sensei: In general usage, it is used, with proper form, after a person's name, and means "teacher",[2] and the word is used as a title to refer to or address teachers, professors, professionals such as lawyers, CPA and doctors, politicians, clergymen, and other figures of authority ( taken from Wikipedia, original location : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensei)

So based on the above description it is irreplaceable with teacher and this would prove that interchanging it is simply a matter of preference

LOL well I guess, I still go by Please Teacher in any case
