Lets talk about things that makes pairing random? I'm sure there as many answers to this as there are people... my only answer to this would be character chemistry. Which is why most of the pairing I meet feel random to me. For example, if there are two characters that loath and despise each other I cant see why anyone in their right mind would pair them? Good example; Draco x Harry from Harry Potter. If it were just the normal rival thing I could see it, there is so much passion in hate that it could turn to something love-like. But those two despise everything the other represent. It's like a god loving catholic girl falling to a I hate god ateist... too much difference.

that isn't a good example with harry potter and draco, it isn't strange, especally in the otaku world, for that much passionate hate to turn to love. but anyway, randomcouples should be people that would never get together a. because they never meet or b. because no one can give any good arguement for their love. example: i don't know what this writer was thinking but i read a fanfic that had kankuroxnegi as a side pairing! i mean WTF?

A) The characters never meet B) The characters utterly despise each other One that came to mind was any pairing between Lelouch and one of his brothers. If he actually loved Clovis then, he wouldn't have killed Clovis. Another one that came to mind. (The explanation in this one contains a spoiler) Light Yagami and L Lawliet. If Light actually loved L, then he wouldn't have had Misa kill him.
