Well, now that everyone's played at least one tournament match, I'd like to get some feedback on this first tournament, and ideas on what to do next. Suggestions and complaints are both welcome.

Things I will not accept

1. Turning any items on
2. Making stages with hazards legal
3. Making Hyrule, Mushroomy Kingdom, or Delfino Plaza legal (both take too long to load and play on)

Things I will consider

1. Making certain stages legal (Hanenbow, Shadow Moses, Skyworld, both Yoshi's Islands, Lylat Cruise, Castle Siege)
2. Making matches best of 3
3. Double Elimination Brackets
4. Team Tournaments

Things I will do (barring massive protests)
1. Smashville is now legal
2. Infinite Caping is officially banned

And I have a question for everyone - how was the lag, overall?

Lag was not bad. It took some getting used to. I like the idea of team tournaments as well as having matches best of 3. Also for best of 3 maybe using your alternates could be required? Though I'm not sure about that last idea myself.

The Lag was so so, I gotta get use to it so i don't kill myself. I have to agree there should be a team tournament bracket the next time around. However friendly fire should be turned on..but giving the lag it might not help much. Smashville is the animal crossing level right? Isn't that tournament legal already? I herd Shadow Moses isn't legal. Ill agree with best of 3. Anyway..ill post if any ideas pop up in my head.

The lag didn't bother me that much....which is a surprise. We definitely gotta do a team tournament...but will our partners be chosen randomly or?

Smashville is one of my favorites...YAY!!!

Edit - One more thing...I think the semi-final matches should be a best of 5 series and then the Finals should be a best of 7 series.

^Partner selections would definitely be weighted by tournament results to give teams a fairer chance. I don't want one titanic team-up to spoil the fun for everyone. Also, I'd like to trial-run a team battle so that we can see how it goes before I make a final decision.

I'm all in favor for a best of 3 system so you can get a feel for your opponent and maybe change characters. I'm also a fan of smashville, but not so much shadow moses because characters with vertical KO's have a pretty big advantage there i.e. pikachu.
What exactly is double elmination? You play two different people?

^Double Elimination Tournaments are played normally for the first round. After that, the losers of that round and each successive round get put into a "loser's bracket" where they play other people who lost. It basically give one a second shot at winning, since the loser of round one can come back through the loser's bracket and win the finals. You're eliminated after you lose two matches instead of one, hence the name.

Seems Like Shadow Moses is out.

Okay, now that the first Tournament's over, I'll be institutiong the following changes to the rules (this is going on the main section too, I just want to post it here):

1. Skyworld, Yoshi's Island Melee, Lylat Cruise, and Castle Siege are now legal
2. Tournaments are now Double Elimination
3. Matches are best of 3 3-stock with no Time Limit
4. We will run a team Tournament alongside the main Singles Tournament (friendly fire on, otherwise same rules)
5. People who wish to participate in matches should indicate whether they plan to do Singles, Teams, or both.
6. The Teams for those who have participated in the October tourney will be seeded according to win/loss record. For those who haven't participated, you have to find your own partner.

Other than that, same as before. Register in the other thread if you want to enter the November tournament.
