I have not seen Heaven Chapter: Overture nor do I plan too, as I heard the movie sucked.

Most of the movies are just 2 anime episodes smashed together. I didn't really enjoy Warriors of the Final Holy Battle that much, they made some...dumb choices with Poseidon to say the least. Eris and Abel I don't care for since they're not manga canon, at least Abel. Eris I'm not too sure on, I heard she's in Saintia Sho but I have not watched nor read that.

Evil Goddess Eris was meh, not a bad one but not that great either. Legend of Crimson Youth is good but I don't really understand the point of Abel. Like, Apollo is not the only sun god in Greek Mythology. You could've also used Helios, the Titan god of the sun. What I like about this one best is the use of the Gold Saints, since from what I remember they are not present in the other movies. Granted, Evil Goddess Eris was during the Silver Saints Arc if I am remembering correctly.

My favorite movie is The Heated Battle of the Gods. It was pretty fun watching gods from two different mythologies clash, as a history nerd. But this one also caused some confusion bc of what happens in the anime with Hilde and the God Warriors like Mime and Thor.

So first of all, in terms of pure enjoyment, I consider the very first Saint Seiya movie the most entertaining. I like to rewatch it from time to time. "Jashin Eris" offers a fun and intriguing plot that blends well with the anime's atmosphere, and villains, be it the main one (Eris) or her troops.

However, my favorite movie in general, considering all elements that one might think of when trying to choose the best option, is Tenkai-hen. I love its mature and quite philosophical approach, same with its artism. Many frames from it look simply gorgeous, and the music is top-tier even by already high Saint Seiya standards. Not to mention nostalgia. I've been waiting for years for the fabled Heaven arc to become reality, so obviously the Tenkai-hen movie has a special place in my heart, lol.

On a side note, I wish there were more Saint Seiya animated movies. The last one, "Legend of Sanctuary" (not available in the poll, since this thread was created two years before its premiere), was released in 2014. Tenkai-hen was released a decade earlier (2004). In 2023 the first live-action Saint Seiya movie had its premiere. If we count any type of movie, whether it's animated or not, it kinda gives us a pattern of one movie released per decade. Ouch, so the next movie should be released, what, circa 2034? 😅

I recommend giving it a try! It is different from the previous movies, that's true, and it has its fair share of issues (pacing, questionable plot choices), but overall it's worth watching at least once. If not for the sake of completionism, then for its audiovisual side.

Yeah, this idea felt wacky. If the purpose of making Eris, Abel and Poseidon appear once again was to tie the previous movies together somehow, then it felt underwhelming. Even Lucifer's cool character design couldn't improve the overall experience.

Oh, and Eris from the movie =/= Eris from Saintia Shou. They are based on the same Greek goddess, but as Saint Seiya characters, they are not connected with each other, hehe.

That's true. When I watched it for the first time, I remember I couldn't stop guessing why it had to be Abel of all gods. Why not Apollo? I get it that Phoebus Abel partially refers to Apollo, since Phoebus was one of Apollo's nicknames in Greek mythology, but still I feel that the Abel reference sounds bizarre.

As for Gold Saints featured in this movie, agreed. It's one of the things I liked the best about it, alongside Corona Saints (their designs, techniques, etc.).

I’ll give the 5th movie a chance then, and I’ll talk about my thoughts about the movie on this forum.

@Fukoku Cool! Since it has been a while, I can't help but ask - did you see the movie? If yes, then what are your thoughts on it? :D
