In the beginning Kino often (always?) talked about herself as a boy and the people rarely talked to her as to a girl, and in the end she seemed to consider herself as a girl and all people were talking to her like to a girl. (Sorry for my English :<) It's on purpose, In the original light novels you don't find out Kino's gender until the end of the first volume (so after many many stories up to that). In the series you actually find out Kino is a girl way earlier - but her being androgynous is kind of a core plot point too, so even after the viewer/reader knows it's meant to mostly stay ambiguous. |
