Heather Mason. I like her because she is natural and real. She is also stronger than the other SH protagonists even though she's a 17 year old girl and they're all adults.

Vincent, because I just love such a selfish, double-faced, manipulating characters as him. Moreover, he's hot ;).
Second goes Maria because she has everything what real woman needs; when she wants to, she can act like a terrified girl who needs help, in the other time she is self confident and very sexy. Besides, she was born from a wish ;).

Heather by far, shes just your typical girl yet she isn't too bothered about what is going on around here. Shes unique, not some cookie cutter female hero you have in a lot of games. Also, shes not a pussy like James and Henry. :p

Kauffmann, I liked him in original Silent Hill, and he was just amazing in Shattered Memories. One of the most charismatic characters in the series, along with Vincent and Walter Sullivan, I think. As for protagonists, I liked all of them :D

My top four. I have thought about it, and thought about it like crazy. My tastes have shifted a little after having played the games over and over again. So, this list is pretty official.

1. Alessa Gillespie. She is the character I relate to, and she is probably the most interesting (at least in the original SH game).
2. Eddie Dombrowski. He's absolutely fascinating, and deals with a ton of psychology.
3. James Sunderland. I like him also because he's very psychological, deep, and interesting.
4. Heather Mason. She's a fantastic character in general.

If I had to make my list with the non-human characters in mind, it'd be like this.
1. Alessa
2. Eddie
3. Mira (from the dog ending, SH2)
4. nurses
