Man, Kyousuke is such a badass. That aerial dogfight was exciting to watch in the air.

I'm definitely liking this flashback episode more than I expected. Oh the made the military proud and himself. Nice episode overall imo :) Oh and the ending was pretty tense.

Thrilling! It was enjoyable. Nice to see his young days again. And WOW@the ending. That captain Saotome failed, which means the precognition of the dolphins will come true at any rate no matter how people try to prevent it? If so, the world will...

Will Hyoubu be like an esper boy from episode 1 of Shinsekai yori? Scary

This episode arc. Speechless. Just wow I understand why Hyoubu is doing this. It's sad all of Hyoubu's comrades except Fujiko are dead. The world better watch out for Hyoubu

Very good episode.

So that thing was a dolphin brain that has precognition? Wonder what happened to the rest of the dolphins?
I want to know how Kyousuke survived that shot in the head.

Also we didn't get to see how Fujiko turned into the person she is now. And why both her and Kyousuke seem young even after all that time.

But at least now we know why Kyousuke hates all the normals and why he chose this as a goal.

Well all in all really enjoyable FB and it was a bit informative as well so all is good :D

The manga mostly explains all of these questions. The fight I've been waiting for starts next week, woot!

Great episode. That dog fight was amazing. The ending where he was betrayed by someone he trusted like a father was sad. Next week, back to the confrontation between Andy and Kyousuke.

I didn't expect the ESP topic to be used as a form of self-expression and self-acceptance in this anime but I definitely like it.
Last episode Fujiko revealed that she hoped to get acknowleged with the aid of her powers by her environment, even as a woman in a society dominated by men. This time we saw Hyoubu accepting his powers to choose his way of life himself, not the way his father wanted him to be,

It must have been all the more devestating for Hyoubu to get rejected for what he was by the man who convinced him to embrace the characteristics he was born with in the first place.

I was hoping that too. Since the parent series has 52 episodes so why not this one? But I can't wait to read the manga.

Kyousuke is a great character,

If you haven't already done so, try reading the manga. It's really good. It explains more in detail about Kyousuke and Fujiko's past.

Well that was a sudden transition

After the battle with the the fighter and submarines I thought we were going to get one more episode to see how everyone dies but nope. Sudden timeskip and we're just told everyone dies or is injured. That part I have problem with but the Captain's evil deeds after the timeskip kind of surprised me too. Last ep they did the evil lighting on him suggesting he was bad but then in the dogfight they made us somewhat like him only for him to kill Kyosuke again. Roundabout and my brain hurts X D

The thread connecting it though was the dolphin that have future abilities which told of Kyosuke killing all of the normals in the world which is I guess why the Captain did what he did. Rushed ending of flashback but I guess it worked, I would have liked to see one more episode of the downfall of the unit personally especially his Sister.

Can't wait though to see the resolution of Andy and Hyobu finally

When introduced, it was insanely maneuverable and had unrivaled range (critical for a naval fighter). However, it was not particularly fast, and was poorly protected everywhere (not just the cockpit - fuel tanks, engine, and ammo storage as well). By 1944, it was still among the most maneuverable and longest-ranged, but was sorely lacking in speed and durability compared to late-war allied fighters.

Edit:
I'm more interested in that destroyer. At first glance, the torpedo tubes (no, the big turrets are not guns) lead me to belive Mutsuki class, but on inspection, the stern armament and masts are much more in tune with a Momi or Wakatake class, but they have open launchers instead of armored turrets. hmmm

Awesome episode! Loved it, and the ending was dark. Poor Kyousuke, to finally feel accepted only to find it thrown back in his face by the man he trusted like a father.

Also, that Captain should have known better, didn't he watch the Star Wars Saga? One often meets their destiny on they path they chose to avoid it. He fulfilled his own prophecy. If he had simply continued to guide and support Hyoubu instead of betray him, Kyousuke would never have gone crazy and eventually formed PANDRA.

PS. Also, ultra excited that there's going to be a manga based on this! :D

I am thinking next week they will use Andy's character song ' Realize Mission" as the new ending for the episode. Either Andy will side with PANDRA or go against them. Hence " Realize Mission"

Thoughts?

Going from young Kyousuke's happy face to this... </3
I sorta expected all of the ESP unit to be betrayed, but instead it was only Kyousuke. That's a tiny bit better at least. Still heartbreaking.

Loved hearing Advent as the ending though. And while this flashback was great, I'm really looking forward to getting back to the main story next week. Wanna see what happens!!!

Well, Generation Zero is over. Back to the main story.

I have to say, I'm glad they adapted that flashback arc. They did a really good job with it. My only issue was the awkward skip between 1939 (I believe) and August 1945.

Overall this flashback was very satisfying. I was hoping they would hint at what Hyoubu's real (base) ESPer power was, but oh well. Maybe in the next episode...maybe...

Yay for Mio, Patty, Kazura, and Kagari appearing in the ED....and Muscle Okama...him....

And to the people who were complaining about this arc calling it a filler. I have only one thing to say.

I just had to do that....

The manga did the same thing. The current arc appears to be heading into more detail on the gray area around the end of the war and what happened shortly after, but it's still not there. Previous extended flashbacks have all been to incidents before the war, with the only relevant one after the war started being the scene where Kyousuke is betrayed.

The gun used by the captain was either an 8mm Nanbu or .32 ACP, both of which are fairly weak cartridges known for lacking stopping power, and a poor quality round would be enough to fail to kill him that way.
Also, if his powers activated unconsciously (or otherwise), it's not inconceivable that he would be able to stop the bullet, but with either his weakened state or a threshold for such activation, not be able to prevent a degree of injury prior to doing so.

As said, the story of Fujiko's survival and the founding of B.A.B.E.L. has not been given yet in the manga. So far, there have only been the flashback arc about the ESP unit that was just animated, and another focusing more on the dolphins set just before the war. The manga does, however, appear to be heading into another flashback detailing what you want to know.

I was about to say something similar. It is quite possible for a person to survive a shot to the head. You can see in the episode that the shot was not a through-and-through so the bullet or its fragments are still within his brain. As long as the bullet didn't damage anything immediately life-threatening, he could have survived at least long enough for medical help, or in this case, probably he had to stop his own internal bleeding using his psychokinesis, before healing himself.

Well , an ok episode . Probably the weakest of all the episodes so far . well , maybe because I already knew what was gonna happen to Hyoubu and his unit that it wasnt really that surprising , or I was just not in the mood to enjoy anything atm .

Anyway , the disappointments this episode was the sudden time skip . And they didnt showed what really happened to the unit , just still pictures of the unit dying , so it wasnt that all powerful . And that Sawatome guy's face when he was gonna shoot at Hyoubu was just priceless . HAHAHA .

And so we are finally back to the story next ep , and wow , did I just saw some stealth planes back in that preview ? the hell US . Everything's gonna go down next episode and its gonna be great .Realize Mission Andy . I cant wait . If it's done right , this series is gonna be the best this season .or it already is the best .

oh and finally , they showed MIO and KAZURA ... HNNNNNNNG .
I hope they make an appearance in the show and not just for picture credits .

And no one messes with Hellsing Hyoubu and his friends .

I'm looking forward to seeing how everything resolves. I also feel kinda sad I'll never know how it ALL ends since I should watch original series for that, and I tried, but after only few episodes I couldn't stand it. Oh well, can't always get what you want.

IIRC, the original ZKC manga has not really elaborated on Teenage Hyoubu's past.

That's okay, I just wanted to find the one where he was shot.
