Surely there is an anime with a crappy adaption, or the other way around. Or perhaps its a game with, surprisingly, a not-to-bad anime or manga. Or maybe just an good anime with a good manga and/or a good game. Oh, might I mention light novels and movies?

For me, Durarara. i found the anime to be good, but the manga. . . no. The art turned me off from the very start. Maybe the story was better, but the art was so very turn offingy that i just put it back down and decided on another piece of Durarara merchandise to add to my fangirl collections. It was a little disappointing, since I had been extremely excited.

Another one is Spice&Wolf- the anime and manga were not compatible with me. On the other hand, the novel was a perfect fit. (Even if i began on volume 3.) Then there's also Code Geass, who has a great anime, but a not-so-great (in my opinion) manga, and a boringish light novel (although it's not bad. 6/10.)

To me there was anime that ok to average when I read the manga. Hyper police is one. The anime is ok as it did entertain me but when I go to read the manga, it really is the same only made it a little bad. One thing the art is so cluster, I couldn't tell what is going on. Plus the plot is just a bunch of fillers.

i know.
For instance, Elizabeth was a bit annoying to me in the anime, but in the manga. . .
SHE KiCKED UNDEAD ASS.

LiTERALLY AND FiGURATiVELY.

Kuroshitsuji needed that in the anime. . . would've been so much better.

yup.
Also Sebastian actually gives a little personality in the beginning.
Whereas in the anime he's all Gary Stu and husbando material.

And more Shota service!

wow, I have a really long list of animes that do not match with their mangas.(like, 07-ghost, Zombie Loan, monochrome factor D:)

I read somewhere that the manga of Magi is way better than the anime version, but I find the anime version very good and entertaining. I have also read that the manga of Bastard and Samurai Deeper Kyo are better than the anime.

Despite the manga being a mess, the anime was even more crappier, I'm talking about Tenjou Tenge.

True. Didn't understand why the anime had to stray off from the manga so much :/.

Tsubasa Chronicles manga was amazing. Then the anime came around and completely screwed it up.

The Saki anime had more yuri and fanservice than mahjong. Then the anime came around and fixed all of that.

Sometimes it goes one way, sometimes the other.

This might piss off a few people but Hunter x Hunter. The manga, while great in terms of written content, has really shitty art in several volumes because of Togashi's laziness/mood swings. The new reboot of Hunter x Hunter over all is a better version of the story.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a manga adaption that just sends chills down my spine, the manga adaption is based on the script so the artist has to be creative with the witches and the architecture, which is not helping the adaption which feels rushed, like, "woah now that happened, wait did that happen? woah, stuff is happening. Done" (It took me awhile to get that Mami had been killed).

the color illustrations are nice but the actual art is.. well. The backgrounds sucks, in the anime Madoka's house and school is modern and fancy while in the manga adaption its so simple and boring, not special at all, and the witches doesn't look scary or threatening at all!

And the ending was altered, but since I never finished the anime I don't care that much.

And I just have to add the spin-off Puella Magi Oriko Magica cuz jeez, that artwork is super sloppy. And the boobs looks horrid from a low angle, and the backgrounds is no better in this manga.
